The Khmer Rouge (Khmer:) was the ruling political party of Cambodia -- which it renamed to Democratic Kampuchea -- from 1975 to 1979. The term "Khmer Rouge," meaning "Red Khmer" in French, was coined by Cambodian head of state Norodom Sihanouk and was later adopted in English. It was used to refer to a succession of Communist parties in Cambodia which evolved into the Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK) and later the Party of Democratic Kampuchea. The organization was also known as the Khmer Communist Party and the National Army of Democratic Kampuchea.
The Khmer Rouge regime is remembered mainly for the deaths of an estimated 1.5 million people (estimates range from 850,000 to 3 million) under its regime, through execution, starvation and forced labor. Although directly responsible for the death of a large amount of that number, the policies of the Khmer Rouge led many others to die from starvation and displacement. In terms of the number of people killed as a proportion of the population of the country it ruled (est. 7.5 million people, as of 1975), it was one of the most lethal regimes of the 20th century. One of their mottos, in reference to the New People, was: "To keep you is no benefit. To destroy you is no loss." Because of its extreme brutality, most people in the communist movement today deny that the Khmer Rouge in any way represented real communism. In its own constitution, the Khmer Rouge did not claim to represent Marxism-Leninism or socialism, but did state that all important general means of production were collectively owned.
After four years of the brutal rule, the Khmer Rouge regime was removed from power in 1979 as a result of an invasion by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It survived into the 1990s as a resistance movement operating in western Cambodia from bases in Thailand. In 1996, following a peace agreement, the Khmer Rouge leader Pol PotPol formally dissolved the organization. Pot died April 15, 1998. With the death of Ta Mok (The Butcher) while in custody in July 2006, Khang Khek Ieu, also known as "Duch," remains the only member of the regime currently imprisoned awaiting trial in the Extraordinary Chambers currently being established to try certain former officials of the Pol Pot regime.
(Although only one member is imprisoned, the trial of 10 former regime leaders is set to start in 2007.)
anyone got any news on how this is progressing?

so she showed up just before midnight on Sunday, left on Thursday and got credit for 5 days. Then, because she wouldn't eat the food, she got sick and had to come home. Not to mention the fact that her home is probably the size of a city block so I bet that just has to be hell to be stuck in. I wonder if I went to jail and refused to eat the food if they would send me home when I got sick? I have absolutely no faith in the American Justice System anymore. What a fucking joke.
I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself
American Justice= puppets.
You know, the Nazis had pieces of flair that they made the Jews wear.

I say the whole thing was a set-up from the beginning, it would have looked bad if they just let her off so they cooked up this going to jail thing for a few days and then let her go home on house arrest due to health reasons.
When you're a billionaire you don't go to jail for parole violation!![]()

here's a question. If she goes out drinking, drives home drunk, and hits and kills someone, do you think that she goes to jail? I mean stays in jail?

At the gym this morning, when this popped up, I was nearly in tears laughing.
If I pull that same shit, I'm in jail (rightfully so) for 23 days, if Paris Hilton does it she's not in jail for 23 days instead being confined to her billion dollar home.
Basically her sentence is to lay out in the sun, swim, watch tv, eat gourmet meals, etc.
The only thing that changes is she can't go out to clubs.
What a life.

I hate to use an individual to make an example but isn't it about time that the american people see something that is somewhat fair.Yes an example needs to be made and it should have been made with this wanna be bad girl who is famaous for being born rich and is given imunity and can do as she pleases.

Paris is perfect to be made an example of. Shes a rich slut that hasnt really done anything, so people love to despise her.
I liked what Sarah Silverman said about her at the show before she checked into jail.

Fucking whore!
I hope that donkey doesn't have a heinie troll!
See that's just it, build a gym, swimming pool, movie theater, and huge kitchen in your home so that if you go on house arrest it won't bother you.
I think if any prisoner gets sick, ANY PRISONER, they should be sent to Paris Hilton's home to finish out their sentences.

if you are as skinny as she is and don't eat for even a few days you can come close to or actually pass out just from standing up quickly. maybe this was happening and the officials that decided to release her were afraid of a legal mess. not that this isn't one.
