I definitely see where you both are coming from. I just don't think it's right to throw the guy in jail for it. Now if the guy was parading the snake around the neighborhood, allowing it to eat everyone's pets, that's a different story...

And a hot chick with a pet pig? So you know she's got a sense of humor too....

So what's next a human baby, MORON? Oh that's right. Human life is so much more highly regarded then animal life in the eyes of, er, humans. Let's drop you off in the middle of the Amazon jungle and see how well that holds up.

How do you know how quickly the puppy died? Where you there? So if you step off the curb in front of a bus, we shouldn't care? How does that logic go again? Since the puppy wasn't cared for there shouldn't be a cruelty to animals charge? wtf? So if a child is abused and unloved we should look the other way?

That's pretty fucked up. There are animals that are sources of food and those that are part of society. Yeah, that line can get blurry sometime, but dogs simply aren't a food source.

On a related note Jersey Devil, don't ever go to China. Those people eat cats and dogs.

Not only did he kill a dog, he killed the four year old dog that belonged to a 17 year old girl, who lives with her grandmother.

I'd pay some serious money to get my hands on that fucker before the police do.

I almost mentioned that myself. India still does that, too. And the reason that they do it is because girls don't bring in (or do as much work as) the boys. So yeah, I can see why they'd have no problem eating a dog.

Hell, back in the early '90s in L.A., there was a big uproar over the Filipinos eating the neighborhood dogs. So they county passed a law making it illegal to eat dogs. Then the ACLU got involved saying that such a law was discriminatory because it's only aimed at those cultures that eat dogs. The county pretty much such "Fuck you, this is America and we don't eat dogs here." And that was from L.A.; The capital of "We'll take it in the ass for pretty much any cultural reason".

are you seriously putting humans at the same level with animals? look how advanced we are and look how advanced they are.

Do you feel the same when a snake is fed mice, or rabbits?!?

Why the hell is a dog being eaten such a big deal to you? Probably because you had and loved one, or think they are so cuteeeee.

My golden retriever is smarter then you, without a doubt. Dogs are very loyal creatures. You can find literally thousands of cases where dogs save humans. Haven't read anything about mice or rabbits doing the same.

So now you are saying what the guy did was right? Why did he get 90 days in jail and a hefty fine then (which I find way too lenient)? So you think any human can just murder dogs and cats because we are more advanced?

I respect everyones opinion, especially JD's.

However.. im on the fence with this one. Im not an animal lover really, and could care less if the snake at a rat, cat, dog or buffalo.

I think the discussion of this should be how the animals were treated.. I mean thats what the guy is going down for. Mis treating animals. If he would have fed the dog to the snake, its one thing.. but he fed it to the snake while 2 kids were watching, and he also pulled it away from the snake after it crushed it.

Summing it up, he mistreated both animals.. so he should do time. Its because of this not just for feeding a dog to a snake

dogs are different than rabbits and mice. you ever hear of a police rabbit? or a seeing eye mouse? a dog will give his life to try to save ours or protect us from harm. i think the least we can do in return is protect them from being treated like meat.

    Was that directed to me?

Because like I said before, I dont care Dogs smell, they are dirty and I dont like it when they lick me or try and hump my leg. I think its great people have them as pets, and if they love them all the more power to them.

They are meat though as you put it.. hell if im walking in the jungle and a tiger, lion, gator or snake eats me im meat as well.

mike456 has a point. Though this story makes me sick, and I'd kill that douche, we have to look at it realistically. We do feed rats and bunnies to snakes with the mind set that the are rodents. An r-selected species, if you will. However, look at Asia. They cook "puppies" and "kitties" and "horsies" everyday. Everyone here thinks it is disgusting, and cruel, but over there it is just another form of nutrition. Think about if the guy had dipped the puppy in oil and ate it himself. UNACCEPTABLE here, but in Asia? perhaps.

no, not directed at you. i just think it's amazing that a dog would do crazy shit like enter a burning building for us and that that degree of loyalty deserves recognition. there are cases where a dog risks it's life to pull a complete stranger from icy water etc. they don't discriminate.

Probably, but would you eat it? Or find it acceptable?
Fisherman market dolphin meat. Though that is protested, it is worse then a snake eating a puppy, and overlooked. A dolphins brain and mental capacity is many times bigger than a dogs.

i's prefer horses n such weren't eaten by humans but until you're in the shoes of a person with no alternatives it's hard to understand i guess.
if i were in a situation where i needed to eat another human to survive n get back to my kids i'd do it. see the human meat thread, that one got a few members pretty riled up too.

you will feed an r-selected species to one though. I dont like considering rats and bunnies K-selected, as for they are so overpopulated. Though I GUESS they qualify as a K-selected.
