Every time we've bought one of those automatic litterboxes the weak mottors they but in them burn out on the first clump heavier than an ounce after the cat has the runs, or the rake that is supposed to scrap it out gets stuck in the muck of liquified shit and you have to clean it out, carefully so the electronics don't get wet. Whereas with the old fashioned style you can take it outside and hose it of with the garden hose.
Plus you have 5 cats, there's a good chance that thing will end up terrifying one of them when the machine trys to eat it. Hey it happened with my cat, one day the automatic rake decided to go off while shes was doing her thing and grabbed her tail after she just about ripped down the curtain next to it she would use it ever again, she'd end up pissing on the rug in front of the sink and shitting next to the box....
Just my own horror storeis of the automated pooper scoopers, maybe this will work more efficiently, but until I see more proof I'll stick with the old way....
