alright folks, i just got this email off my future boss (she's gettin promoted in a week)

now in fairness I am a bit fucked this morn.... was out last night, but i did get to work, its 10:50 and i've already sold €1000 worth of ads. everyone else on my team is just sittin here doin sweet fuckin nothin. this woman is completly (and i do mean completly) mad. she emailed me and it took all i had not to piss myself laughin

a bit of backround info - she didnt fight for any money or a position for me, i got both of these by myself. she doesnt work her ass off, she actually spends most of her day on the phone to her friends or shopping online. i do actually have car trouble some days, i live 35miles away from work so if my car fucks up im gonna be a little bit late, its happened 3 times in the year im here.

michael (my boss's boss) who say says is in at 9 lookin for me, isnt, he's grand aslong as i get in before half 9

anywho, here u go, let me know what you's think, i took the name out but left her title (that she signed the email with) in

Ps- your totally taking the piss coming in this late after what you did last Monday, your blatantly fucked over there with your Red Bull- I went out on a total limb fighting for all that extra money for you and making promises that you'd cop yourself on ... two Mondays ago you ring Karl begging for the day off on Sunday & come in 2 hrs late with 'car trouble', then your 'Grandad' last week.... I was senior for 18months & worked my ass off to be brought up to 30 Grand, that was also on the basis of me doing the Post Grad by night that I got it- I said I wouldn't take Karls job unless you got an extra 5 grand and this is how you act!! If this is how you plan on continuing let me know now because I won't be standing for it Mark, I know you live miles away but you knew that when you interviewed for the job, you have a sweet deal in here and for the most part you don't have to do very much work!! Also, Michaels not stupid, the first thing he said when he arrived in was 'where's Mark?' I don't think that it is a coincidence that he came in early this Monday- it was obviously to make sure you were in- then you arrive in with red eyes and red bull!!! Real smart!!!

Okay, so she is getting promoted to a higher position because she went to night school and worked her way up... and she is mad at you for showing up late some days and showing up hung over on other days after she aparently fought to help you out. Even if she didn't fight to help you out it's still normal for her to be dissapointed in you being late and showing up hung over.

Seems like normal managerial behavior to me. Now if she's getting this position when all she does is sit around all day and you're the one who deserves it because you bust your ass, that's a whole different ball of wax.

Personally I live just 15 minutes from the base where I work, and I'm out the door at 5:45am so I can be at work by 6, even though the shift technically starts at 6:30... if something happens that is going to even POSSIBLY make me so much as 5 minutes late I immediately call my Section Chief, Shift Supervisor, and Direct Supervisor in that order before I do anything else. If everyone responsible for you knows exactly what your problem is and that you're doing everything you can to get to work as soon as possible they'll not only be more apt to disregard your absence but probably admire how well you've responsibly handled the situation.

I'm not saying you are irresponsible I'm just throwing out some advice with a bit of personal experience to back it up. I don't know your situation with being late and wouldn't be dumb enough to make negative assumptions.

Sounds like you are a bad employee. How do you know what she does all day? Do you watch her every move during the workweek? If she is being promoted, odds are she deserves it. Maybe she doesn't do shit all day, but sometimes just being there is all that is expected.

Sorry if I seem harsh, but I take tremendous pride in being professional in both of my jobs. I have absolutely no sympathy for people with excuses. I have worked with people like you who show up late, hung over sometimes, car trouble this week, and death in the family that week. Its always some new excuse, and these people play the "victim".

I don't see the problem... but then again I worked for a company where an acceptable excuse for not coming back after lunch was "I just got too hammered at lunch to make it back to the office"

to be honest i wasnt saying i was right, this is just more of a rant

i just wanted to show you all the email she sent me over. i thought it was hilarious. and the only reason she is getting promoted is because my boss is leaving and they cant be arsed hiring a new person to do the job so they're just thrownin her into it. she sits across from me so i can actually see her doing nothing, or ringing her friends, or shopping online (she will actually sit there talkin non stop about what she is buying).

i guess the real reason i hate her so much is because she is one of them rich kids. her mom is a multimillionare and pays for everything, she doesnt need the job, its just something for her to do during the day. just the other week she was bitching that the house her mother was buying her wasnt big enough, while i (and everyone else in the world) struggles to get our rent together, its fuckin soul destroying.

again, im not saying i'm right, this is more of a rant...... feels damn good though.....

You were in the Navy too?

I had a sinecure after the Navy that I would catch-up on my sleep at. I would have to stop by my good friends house and wake him up, he was the manager, then we would both stagger to work and smoke joints with our other friend. At lunch we would take turns going down to the bar across the street, then after work we'd all 3 head down there and get plastered. Then we'd all show up at work again the next morning still drunk. Me and my friend even showed up at work many a few times on X or acid highs still going from the night before, some of the best times...
