Obviously I disagree with RP on some of his ideas - I think a gold/silver based monetary system is a terrible idea in today's society among other things, although anything is better than our current debt based money. I am voting for RP because he as a person has the core beliefs and rationale to make excellent decisions for this country in the majority of issues.

I'd just like to throw out there that I absolutely fucking despise anyone who votes or refuses to vote for a person based purely on the party they belong to rather than the ideals and credibility of the candidates themselves. I really enjoyed Paul's response to the Iran question at the last debate. Not only was it a well thought and articulated answer, it was one of the few that was a line-in-the-sand, no waffling allowed response. I did that.

As a Dem, it is tough for me to stomach a lot of the Rep rhetoric that is out there. Paul has done a nice job of putting out a strong, clear message. The biggest drawback I see (and this is not really a knock on him so much as our society) is that he puts me (and others I've talked to) in mind of Perot. Smaller, older guy, blunt, clear message that not everyone wants to here. (And I say that having voted for Perot both times.)

Your last point reminds of an old Bill Hicks routine talking about politics. It's like watching two puppets argue. Some people say "I like the puppet on the left!" Some day "I think the puppet on the right best represents my views!" But eventually, you realize the same person has their hand up both their asses.

Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo would be my idea picks because of the views on immigration and social security. However the only mainstream candidates that I think will beat the Clinton/Obama combo would be Thompson/Guliani. What scares me is all the votes Clinton/Obama will get just because she is a woman and he is a black man that speaks well. I mean Hilary is a socialist and Obama is a political noob who in all reality we wouldn’t even know his name if Jack Ryan wouldn't of loved his sex clubs.

I honestly don't know much about Tancredo or Thompsons's in-depth views so I can't really go into whether or not they would be good, personally I would like to see a Paul/Kucinich(sp?) ticket.

Regarding Guiliani though, I would quite literally leave the country if that douchebag became president. He is Bush on steroids, and quite honestly I am not going to work my ass off only to watch the government print trillions more dollars to fight wars based on lies for corporate profit and make my life savings worth a loaf of bread, because that is exactly where we are headed.

Also, call it a conspiracy if you want, but another large reason I don't want ANY of the mainstream candidates in the white house is their relations with the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations). Nearly every president in recent history (possibly all) have been members of this board, and they have even publicly declared their desires for a one world government. Their current publicly announced goal is to eliminate U.S. financial sovereignty which they are doing a seemingly great job at.

None of the other candidates have even given their views on how they would fix our current financial crisis, and to me that is a far more pressing issue than terrorism, which in my opinion is a result of failed US policies, both domestic and foreign.

Dennis is a democrat so you wouldn't see that ticket anytime soon. Tancredo is all about stopping illegal immigration and reforming social security.

Personally, I believe social security is a giant money pit that won't be seeing any of the money I am and will put in.

Despise me if you want, but I'll never vote for a Demoncrat. I do vote down party lines because they govern down party lines. Just ask Joe Lieberman what happens when you don't follow the pack.

Even the conservative democrats are going to go along with the majority to stay in power. As such, even if I liked a democratic candidate (which to this day hasn't happened) he'd still never get my vote.

The Republicans aren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination and are guilty of the same "follow the leader" mentality, but their supposed views are pretty much in line with mine. I'm a staunch conservative & as such I will vote for the conservative party.

And this two party system is not what drove this country into the gutter. It's our fault for letting the pandering politicians do it.

So if Guiliani A.K.A. "Bush on steroids" wins the GOP nomination, you will be voting for him and whoever his running partner is? Hurray for 4 more years of corporate domination and the bankruptcy of America

Seriously though, regardless of Democrat or Republican, look into the CFR membership issues I was talking about. It really isn't any stretch of the imagination, it's public knowledge that people just seem to either ignore or don't know about. The two party system is just meant to blind the majority into choosing "sides". As pylon said before, "Eventually, you realize the same person has their hand up both their asses."

Now that Oprah has told her millions of minions to vote Obama none of your picks will be worth shit...
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Right on both counts, I'm afraid. We came close to a Kerry/McCain ticket last time, but that's as close as we will get, I think.

Kucinich would be an interesting match, but I think Paul would need a more polished, experienced running mate. Someone like Cheney (though hopefully a lot less evil...like Satan maybe...)
