USA debt collection practices.
i have been asked to find out rules concerning the collection of debts, in new york.
there are three people resident in the house in question. the mother, has quite alot of debt. apparently a "warrent"(?)has been attempted to be served on her. the daughter is concerned that, although the debt is in her moms name, her personnel items will be taken by debt collectors to pay for her moms debt. is this likely to happen? is this the usual procedure? is this legal? any advice, information greatly appreciated. many thanks. |

if the items are in the mothers house and do not have the proper documentation to prove that they are NOT the mothers they are fair game...otherwise tell the daughter to get her things of any value out of her mothers house ASAP.
