How do you stack up against your siblings?

Having an older brother, I had grown up always being compared to him by friends and family. I've always been known as the more social one, but the bigger asshole by far. I've always gotten more and better looking girls than he has. I'm taller (6'1" vs 5'10"), leaner, stronger, more athletic, have been called the better looking one of us, and I always did better than him in school. However, my brother is more in touch with the world, knows more about business, is more cultured than I am, and ever since high school, my parents have loved him more than they have loved me (he never got in trouble, and always had a steady job). How do you guys compare with yours sibs?

Great thread... I'm totally different to my brother & my wife come to think of it.?! My brother is married with 3 kids & struggle everyday at work to provide for them., he's totally law abiding..
I am more financially secure than him, but i've been in & out of the British Prison system most of my life. I don't have a full time job & haven't had 1 in many years, but i my income far out-weighs his & to me, that's what matters at the end of the day..
My parents adore him & despise me, mainly because of my lifestyle. Luckily i don't give a toss what they think.

My brother was a superior in every way, except heart. He was a star athlete, student, and musician. He had a baseball and band scholarship offer for college when he graduated. He was better looking, and got pussy like it was on tap. HE is naturally funny, and everybody likes him. HE was a lot smarter than me academically. He was my idol.

Later, he flunked out because of partying, went to work construction and hurt his back. He now has no job, education, or prospects. HE looks to me for guidance and motivation. He was handed everything and threw it away, while I scratched and clawed for everything I have and am now succeeding at everything I do. My advantage was the early part of my life was very hard which tempered me like steel. I grew stronger because of it.

My brother and sister have done nothing with their lives, they live in a small town barely getting by and constantly leaching off of my mother, I live in Hawaii, work in the Alternative Energy biz, have an AAS Degree, own our home, 2 cars, 5 dogs....I think I have done very well. My twin half sisters seem to be doing good too. One is going to Culinary School to be a chef and the other is in college, she want to be a teacher....

I have 2 half brothers. One has to be pushing 70 now (kinda lost touch with him when my father passed) and the other one would be 62, that is if he's still alive. We tried to find him to hook him up with his inheritance but all we could find was a paper trail of him being in and out of halfway houses and drug rehabs. Last that was heard of him is that he contracted HIV in the early 90's from needle sharing so most likely he's dead.

I would have a 3rd 1/2 brother but he died when a drunk driver hit his friends car that he was a passenger in.

So really, I have no siblings.

Jeez, how old was your father when you were born? Around 60?

My older brother is leagues ahead of me in fitness and sociability because he was one of those guys who was really into biking, hiking, rock climbing, etc.. as he was growing up. He is also pretty damn smart at what he does which is mechanical engineering for a robotics company in NYC, but he can't come anywhere near touching my knowledge of computers, networks, etc.

My sister, although also more sociable than me (sort of), has not been successful at all health wise or financially.

Basically I'm just behind them socially since I've always been the shy one, and have never been able to beat that no matter what I did, although it's hard to beat something when you don't really know how . I've got my theories as to why I'm like that, still doesn't help though.

Financially I'm kicking both of their asses compared to when they were my age though, I'm in a far better position that either of them were at my age.

67 actually. He was born March 27, 1912.

He had some really awesome, awesome stories. He grew up in South Philly, the son of a middle classed Italian immigrant grocery store owner. His mother passed when he was really young and his brother died a few years later at the age of 10 while they were playing.. His father became abusive and my father stuck it out until he was 16 (right when the great depression kicked off) then he just left home.

He saw over 40 states just by hopping trains and hitching rides. He was arrested in Naples, FL in 1930 for vagrancy and did all sorts of odd jobs to pay his way to California. When he was 21 he returned home to Philly but by that time is father hardly recognized him and could care less really.

Dad started driving freight trucks for Penn Fruit, and did that for 25 years. He was such a good "company man" that he landed a position with a Teamsters local in Philly and did that until he retired. His first wife (of over 30 years) passed away from pneumonia and he moved to Wildwood, NJ where he met my 28 year old mom and the rest is history. Quite a charmer apparently the old bugger.

Pretty neat to be exposed to that growing up, I feel it really expanded my outlook on life as a whole. Sucks that I never got to know my father as an adult, but what can ya do ya know?

What do you do for cash? Sell drugs? Not having a go, just curious as how you earn money without working?

I have sold drugs in the past, yes.. I mainly in the security business now & do a few other things to try & make ends meet. My kid will be starting private school in September so i've got to try & stay on the straight & narrow for atleast 5 years, & that's gonna be extremely difficult for me.

The " security business" eh? Selling drugs? You're starting to sound like a regular gangster.

Some of my friends used to sell drus too. Nothing major, kilo's of weed and X. Some would think an easy life, but it seemed to be a lot of hassle for them.

The problem i had with it was that i ended up taking most of the stuff.. but i did have women dripping off me.. They loved Coke more than money, good looks & even their own children.
Today i mainly Tax local drug-dealers or any card schools, no more dealing..

Regarding calling myself a Gangster, well i'm a million miles away from that.. I'm more of a parasite to society.. I've made national & local headlines in the news more than a few times though.

That I don't know. I do know that he sat at the head of the table at family reunions though and everyone came to pay their respects to "Uncle Al" even if he wasn't their uncle. I found out from my "Uncle Joe" a few years back that he would get totally wasted when he first moved to Wildwood and would get in all sorts of trouble (starting shit at bars @ 66 years old ) including one time almost driving his car off the Wildwood bridge, he was a tough SOB. The cops would always just make sure he got home safe, so I'd imagine he had some pull somewhere not to get in trouble. Who knows.

My brother is an (almost) 26 year old virgin. He had one girlfriend in high school. He still lives home with his dad (same mom, different dads). He is narrowminded, uptight and republican.

We are nothing alike. We're polar opposites.

My only sister is mentally handicapped.

We have the same color hair, and I guess a couple other features from our grandmother.

    We both like music.

Youngest of 6 brothers here. I got my ass kicked in so many different ways you can't imagine. I've been stitched up some many times I can't count them. I've been held done and given pink bellies till I pissed my pants dozens of times, had the farted on pillow held over my face till I passed out, been thrown off a roof, had my brothers bet against me in after school street fights(they would never help). I was a sleep walker and they use to lure me to the top of the stairs and give me a little push. I would wake up all bruised at the bottom clueless as to how. I could go on and on. I think all of that is what made me faster and stronger. I love my bros.

My little brother used to be fat but now he is skinny and taller than me by about an inch. I could still take him though. He is still at the phase where he could get a lot thicker as he gets older, but I hope not.

We both went to good schools, got good degrees, good women, etc.
