    Mexico criticises US on immigration

    Source
    Mexico criticizes US on immigration

Some US-born children have been left behind after their
    Mexican parents were deported
    [GALLO/GETTY]

Mexico's president has criticized the US for immigration policies that have divided families and slowed the flow of money sent home by Mexicans living in America.

The attack earned Felipe Calderon a standing ovation on Sunday during his first state-of-the nation address despite protesters rallying outside.

"The insensitivity toward those who support the US economy and society has only served as an impetus to reinforce the battle … for their rights."

He said the US and Mexico needed to work together to develop "the region's enormous potential".

"We need to create a strong, winning Mexico that is sure of itself," he said. "Mexico's challenge is being able to strengthen its international position."

Since taking office in December, Calderon has maintained strong ties with the US but has also not shied away from criticising his neighbour.

He has often denounced US immigration policy, including stepped-up workplace raids and deportations that have divided many families, sometimes forcing US-born children to be left behind or build new lives in Mexico.

Calderon also said he would improve communication between the president's office and congress.

Calderon addressed the nation on Sunday from the National Palace, avoiding a showdown with legislators still angry over his narrow electoral victory last year, who had vowed to prevent him from making the speech in congress, as Mexican tradition dictates.

Calderon has garnered some of the highest approval ratings in Mexico's history.

He said on Sunday that Mexico has created 618,000 new jobs since January and needed to do more to close the giant gap between the rich and the poor.

He also promised to continue his nationwide crackdown on drug gangs who control large swaths of Mexican territory.

"We can close our eyes to the reality, and because we are afraid or irresponsible, let organized crime take over our streets," he said. "Or we can decide to fight and defeat crime with all the risks and costs that implies."
Lets just go help "rebuild" Mexico ...

They're immigration laws make ours look pathetic.

Personally, I think that each and every Mexican trying to get into this country should be given a nice new shiny bullet at 378 foot-pounds.

How is a Mexican who earns money (under the table) here then sends it to Mexico supporting the US economy?

As far as ripping apart families, i'm sorry but i have no sympathy for illegal aliens who shouldn't have been here in the first place. Atleast have the decency not to reproduce and put a further strain on yourself, our country. WTF mate.

We might as well start a welfare system for Mexico, but then Canada seems to be doing well.

This country is way to generous to other countries.

No kidding, we have no rights if we go down there. Up here they generally don't pay taxes and laugh at them, then bitch and moan that they don't get free services up the fucking yang. Then immigration comes and they don't show up for work because they know they don't fucking belong here.

You can't have free cake, eat it, and then bitch that its not good enough for you while waving your mexican flag. If you love the homeland so much then fucking go home or pay your taxes and get here legally.

Its apparent that none of you work with (legal) first generation mexicans, who are the most hard working, respectable, American people I have ever met

Fuck mexico's politics, and fuck the american immigration system.

    its broken.

I understand where most of you are coming from, though, on illegal aliens.

The only thing that is apparent is that you make assumptions on what we have done based on your own perspectives.

Did you have enough respect for those people you worked with to learn their language?

I've met plenty of good and bad. The main problem is the quantity.
I don't know how they do it but they have taken over nieghborhoods like locusts.
    They breed like mice.

    Let me tell a story.
I have a friend who has lived in Corona for 40 years, 103 ST. and 37 avenue to be exact.
She is Irish and the neighborhood was mixed with Irish and German. Then the Italians came she was OK with it, the Puerto Ricans came and she dealt with it, the Dominicans came and she was alright with them. Now the Mexicans came all it's bedlam, nothing but drunks peeing all over the place. Playing volleyball till 5:00 am in the Morning, the quality of life has gone way down.

Crime is up, and now they are bring that gang shit here.

That goes for most of the first generations, they come here for a better life or to get away from hardship their country is going thru.
But it's usually the kids who fuck it up for them.

I've seen this for years..I knew this Haitian couple who were saints, they were the most nicest most polite couple I ever met yet when there second son grew up he became a gangsta so to speak.
His father hated the way he was acting like thug with the pants down, it's sad because he didn't raise the kid to be like that.
His first son works for FDNY while his gansta second son is a bum.

If immigrants want to live and work here and contribute to society and taxes, I don't have a problem with it. When they work only to send the money out of the country, they become a drain and that pisses me off.

I'm a Canadian living in Arizona. The money I make gets reinvested and spent in the US. I don't send anything back to Canada. I support the community that allows me to live and work here.

Walmart is a drain not a bunch of mexicans. China owns over a Trillion dollars of our treasury bonds. Only way to fix the problem is to fine the people who employ the illegals. No jobs, means they go home its called supply and demand.

    I bought a bird feeder....

Don't know where this came from but I got it in an E-mail:

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table... everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone.I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...... quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal. Now let's see....... our gvernment gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic
    citizen.

Then the illegal's came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English: Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press "one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.

Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder.

I did not know picking apples was a good job, or that scrubbing toilets was a good job. First generation Mexicans do the worst jobs out there and are happy to have a job. You have to respect that.

I do respect that, my uncle used to work in construction years ago.
He was in the union, they paid pretty good money at the time he left the business for a few years.
When he came back to look for work they had replaced them with a bunch of immigrants (not just Mexicans) and the pay was not even half of what he made.

Tell you something else, ever notice how you hear about construction mishaps in NYC almost everyday....it was never this bad. Well maybe 100 years ago before safety became important.
