Thread: The Pick-Up Artist

I am actually studying The mystery method right now. Mystery's teacher is David Deangilo, who I have studied his material also. Couple mystery method with NLP and you should be able to talk game to any chick. I have a lot of work to do still, but I think I will be ready in a few months to start trying the material out in real world situations. My only problem is I do not have a partner to to work with. It really helps to have two people, because one person can help the other one refine their technique.

MyK got me started on this about a year ago, but I never had time to devote to the material. I just started the program last week.

Also, I haven't seen the show, but I am pretty sure that I would be one of the nerdiest people on there.

I hate that pradeep guy. The fat guy Joe D didnt have any problem talking to women but the odds of him taking any home are slim. That kosmo will win it, since he got rid of the 80's haircut and sacked up alittle.

Its a pretty entertaining show not for picking up chicks but communicating in general and understanding body language. If I hear that floss before or after opener again Im gonna shoot myself

I doubt that, I study bacteria, read, and play video games all day and the majority of these guys make me look like Casanova

I wouldn't defame Mystery really, he has a TON of in depth comprehensive material. Those guys are all noobs, and you can only do so much with them(actually talk to girls, open sets, keep an interest going) until they progress further.

I did catch the show, I'll admit it was iffy.

Fufu is right. Mystery is one of the best i the world at helping guys overcome their personal obstacles so that they can find a good chick. I think Deanglilo is better, but they are both good. One day I hope to to take Mystery's advanced course where they take you out every night and make you do approaches with the material they teach you until you get it right.

On the show, Ive noticed that they are each sent into the club by themselves. It truly is the best test. If you rely on a wingman, just like relying on workout gloves, you wont be able to lift if you dont bring them.

Pradeep shouldve left episodes ago. Hes a boring character and frankly, I dont care if he succeeds. In fact, only this LAST episode did he start using Mystery's methods.

Joe D hasnt improved from day 1. If you remember, his problem was that he always gets slung into "friend mode." Well, hes still there. He still looks like a "low valued male."

The blond hair guy doesnt belong on the show either. Hes a good looking guy, however, I loved Mystery's comment to him.

"Looks can only get you so far. Its when you are up against another good looking guy that your game will be put to the test."

I emphasize with that. I dont think I am ugly whatsoever, but when it comes to hitting on girls with another above average guy, I am looking like Cosmo in the first episode...waiting for something magical to happen.

I think the approach is the hardest and only fearful part. If I got rejected time and time again, it wouldnt matter cuz if I had a good approach, then I can make practice perfect.

I am not going to lie. I would rather fight Fedor than do an approach. It is becoming easier to approach, but I am not really getting better at it. My last 5 approaches have been total failures, but I think it is kind of funny now. I'll figure out my niche in time.

I just finished reading Neil Strauss' The Game and this Mystery guy seems like a total dbag. Does it ever show him actually at work? And how does he dress? All goofy with heels and painted nails? Does he do magic tricks still?

Ugh.. some annoying asshole just wasted the last five minutes of my life trying to sell me magazines.

Getting laid isnt a means to an end...no actually it is. This is not a double edged sword. If you get laid by different girls, constantly, and they look good, Ill have to say thats a success. However, getting numbers would be too. Shit, approaching and keeping a girls attention would be sufficient for me....but I would like to get laid every now and again.

I feel your pain, Kelju. I do okay myself; I'm actually better at getting a number outside of the club or bar scene. The approaches described in the book are mostly lame, but the general idea works.

For example, the other day I asked a girl in a book store on campus what the deal was with parking validation while waiting in line to check out ("This is kind of embarassing, but what exactly does it mean to validate parking?"...). It just so happened the book store we were in validated parking if you spent over $10. That is where your personality has to come in to keep the conversation going.. then ask other questions. Great and easy way to start talking to a girl.

The book gave the example of the jealous ex-girlfriend routine as an approach, which is pretty good (I've unknowingly used this one before reading the book because it actually happened to me, which I talked about in another thread). The "hey can I get your opinion on something" opener is what you can recycle.

The thing that really blows my mind which there is no way I can do and apparently this Mystery character is great at, is approach a random group of guys and girls, ignore the target while making friends with the guys, then take one of the hot girls aside and get her to come home with you, even if she has a boyfriend. That, is what I'd like to see this Mystery character do.

I wonder what Myserys advice is to a guy punching his Dr. Seuss hat off when he tried to pick up his gfriend.

Yeah it sounded like most of what these PUAs (Pick Up Artists) were doing were only getting numbers, which is pretty easy. Getting laid on the same night is the hard part. I rarely bring girls home the first night because a) I'm just not that good b) I don't know if I want a slut who puts out on the first night. I think something I need to improve on is what to do with the numbers after I get them. Too often I go out and just get numbers and never end up calling the girl because I don't really want to date them, I just wanted to screw them. I guess I don't have the patience for The Game.

While reading the book, I was thinking back to the last time I brought a girl home that I randomly met at a bar, and a lot of the tips given went hand and hand with how I got her home. Those were, make it spontaneous aka the three-second rule being that once you make eye contact, you have three seconds to approach (and don't approach directly). Usually when I pick up girls from bars it's relatively spontaneous and unplanned. I just walked past this girl and saw she was hot, spun around and said "hey! I thought I knew all the hot asian chicks here" (she was a half asian, half white dance major) and we struck up a conversation. I set a time constraint (not planned, I was actually on a bar crawl and was supposed to leave to the next bar when I ran into this girl); told her I had to get going so she took my phone and put her number in it. The funny part was the wallpaper on my phone was me kissing my ex-girlfriend (whom I had just broken up with). I told her I just hadn't changed the wallpaper and she still gave me the number. At that point, I told her to come with me and just left the bar and smiled at her from outside. Then I called her and she said she was coming, had to tell her friends (whom I heard yell "NO SEX TONIGHT OK?"). So we ended up going back to a friend's place, he went to bed, and I made out with her for a while.. I pulled her tube top down and sucked on her nipples when my ex called (she just got off work). Anyway, I was stupid and picked up and blew it with the girl. But that was my experience.. some of the tips in the book actually work if you think about it; I applied it to a past experience before I read the book.

That's another thing.. I still have a hard time believing this guy's idea to dress all weird ("peacocking") to get attention actually works. I bet his "Game" is just like everybody elses' in that it's just a numbers game (you win some you lose some). I bet he crashes and burns 50% of the time or more.

I think the key is really just having true confidence. My gift/curse is my smirk/smile. Girls have said I've got a cocky smirk but I know they love it. I think the book said something about smiling a lot being one of the traits of the AMOG ("alpha male of the group"). Anyway, I figured that was common sense.

I have not watched this show and do not plan to, but it seems sexually degrading to women. Not the kind of show that needs to be on TV.

I've seen the show and I don't think it's degrading to women. The biggest benefit I've seen from it is that it helps boosts the shy guy's confidence. It's not a show about getting a girl in bed, if it was, I would agree it is degrading. It's about a group of guys that have anxiety issues in general especially when it comes to meeting women. They all lack self esteem and even though I find the methods to be a bit ridiculous, it seems to help these men and they are becoming stronger individuals from the inside out.

On that note, it's very comical to see the way this guy dresses. Personally if anyone like him ever came up to me I'd probably laugh my ass off because he looks like such a freaking idiot!

Yeah, I don't like the things he wears either, but then I think about what people think of me when they see me. I look 3 times stranger than he does, especially with my new piercings. I just hope to find a chick that digs my look and self expression.

That might actually be a stepping stone to a more advanced method of picking up women.

I admit, my game is "pretending like I have no game." Hah, thats EVERY guy's game and is an excuse for being a pussy.

Ill also admit that I have gotten laid before by girls that I did NOT express confidence with when the first approach happened. Ive even been called intimidating! Ive been called cocky, arrogant, and to my own ?defense?, I respond with "I am the most insecure guy here." Most? I dont know, but I am insecure. Some girls dont know why, but it really does come from within.

The approach is so fearful to me cuz of the possibility of sounding like someone else. A dime a dozen. I dont want to give lines off (although Mystery says otherwise) and basically just be polite. HOWEVER, being polite can fall into the fallacy Mystery identifies as being "boring" or expressing "small talk."

I do want to have some sort of game, but at the same time, I dont believe in working for attention. If I come up to a girl, dont spit out some sort of line, be polite, and express some sort of interest, if she doesnt like it FUCK HER. Even still though, I would like to have an edge.

I am not the only good looking guy out there...I will have to offer something.

On a side note, I like the fact that they dont have wingmen the more I think about it. Ive gotten laid and even gotten gfriends before from having friends with me during an approach. Its easy cuz the wingman picks up the slack you may or may not give. However, like I said before, if your friend isnt there, youre not getting laid.

This show never ceases to amuse. I thought Perdeep was really asking for it. That fucker has tried to steal peoples shit so many times!

In all fairness though, I think he didnt slap Fat-So very hard and that the air just got perfectly cupped. Kinda like making a perfect "clap" noise without using too much force just cuz of how your hands are shaped. Besides that, why didnt the idiot say he slapped him cuz ....uhhh, Joe kissed him? My girlfriend was watching it the other night, she kept laughing through the whole thing. She asked me why all of that Mystery guys henchmen looked like rejects of evil vampires from a Blade movie...

That guy might be able to pick up chicks at clubs but can he keep a relationship going? Is he going to end up being a 50 year old wearing fuzzy hats to clubs and only scoring fat chicks in the future?

I remember my friend Ted was the best pick up artist I ever met. I don't think any of my friends or I know of one night he said he was ready to get some action and didn't. His biggest tactic was this model like smile where he would push out his lips and smile, he would also start acting like this was the place to be and the whole night was gonna be a party. He would slam beers and talk loud and laugh, as soon as girls started paying attention he would get them to join us and from there he would just keep the party going. MyK gave me torrent links for all of his stuff. I couldn't tolerate Mystery the first couple of times I tried to watch his DVDs. I would turn them off after a few minutes. But the truth is, he really does have women figured out to a science. I made myself sit through hours of his stuff, and most of it makes perfect sense once you invest some time into it.

It's the whole initial approach/conversation thing that scares the fuck out of me, I just can't do it. I'm the shy guy

IMO I would rather go skydiving out of a plane than do it a lot of the time. (I have never skydived, and I'm fucking terrified of heights )
