Thumbs up 80's Billboard Top 1,000 Songs

A great sight for music of the 80's, you get to see the videos also.

The 80's was a decade of new and over-the-top, and what better way to pay homage these years of flourescent tube socks and Cabbage Patch doll craziness than with the top 100 songs of each year...in full color music video decadence!

I remember it was 1986, I'm 9 years old, I had a fever and stayed home in bed, I had the radio on and sort of drifting in and out of sleep. West End Girls by the Pet Shop Boys was the first song, it sounded so weird and spooky, then that I Wanna be A Cowboy and You Can Be My Cowgirl song was next just as weird and spooky, then Peter Gabriels SledgeHammer came on....I was freaking out the music was so trippy all these dreams and hallucinations from the fever were really getting on top of me, then they played Flock of Seagulls -Then I ra-aa-a-an, ran so far away-ay-ay...and I remember jumping out of bed and running half stumbling down the hall, I'm home all alone I jump on the couch and turn on the tv and Flock of Seagulls is on MTV same song....I just laid there and fell into a trance. That was my first introduction into altered states of mind....

Flock of Seagulls is coming to Hawaii on Sept. 22 I think I'll buy tickets for my GF and me

I remember when MTV fired up and they only had a couple of videos that they played over and over and over...

I remember at one time you could turn to MTV and say "Dire Straits and it would be playing or "Thriller" and it would be playing.....I also remember they played Music Videos almost all the time, no Real WOrld or any of the other crap.....I love VH1 Classics....

I remember the 80's. Sorta. Some of it. I got married and and had a kid in there some where ... ... but I was in my 20's so I'm not responsible for my actions back then.

Not all of their non-music video stuff was bad.

Idiot Box (staring Alex Winter). Circa 1991.

Welcome . That song makes me all but at the same time. I think it's that sax in there behind the lyrics that just kicks my ass every time.

The music was a lot more fun. Back then, the music studios hadn't gotten into the safe, formulamatic, mode that they're in now. They were willing to publish music of just about every type.

Much more of an assortment. Just look at the year 1980, it was all good but different.

I remember being 3 or 4 and hearing a lot of these songs on the radio while my mom cleaned house or during one of the many parties my parents would have.....alot of my love for Stevie Nicks' voice comes from back then, her voice was like hearing a lullaby for me since my mom always played Fleetwood Mac and her solo stuff around my nap time while she cleaned house....
