At work, what to say about eating habits, etc...

I learned about, then adopted, a body-building lifestyle almost a year ago. Eating clean. Eating regular. dot dot dot. Of course, people noticed. I've been in the same job all year and everyone's been great. My boss doesn't mind my three mini-lunches daily, for example.

But what do you say when people ask you about it? How do you explain the gallon of water, constant eating, etc? Additionally, general speaking, (and I'm just curious here) how much do you talk about your personal life at work; any?

What business is it of anyone else how much food you eat? Tell them to fuck off, but do it nicely. Just say "Yes, I do eat a lot. Does it have a negative effect on my work?" Put them on the spot instead.

My boss is a self taught nutritionist. Many of his ideas and my ideas fall in line, but often times he lectures me about my protein intake and other things. He does it because he cares, so I don't mind. I work with some pretty cool people, plus I spend 90% of my workday working in a shop with a full fridge 10 feet from my work station. You can't beat that.

Things will change when I graduate and get started in my career. Frankly, it is a lifestyle that I chose for myself, and I am happy with my decision, so fuck what anybody else thinks. Many of them are jealous because I look better and better everyday, and they just keep getting fatter

Don't fall for that lie, KelJu! You were born that way!!!

But yeah Big G, don't worry what they think. A lot of people will resent you for just trying to be healthy. If someone has a problem, I couldn't care less. If they say they're interested, well...they're not. They ask, but they won't really listen and I'm not going to waste my time.

about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

I laugh in my head when fat people at my work comment on me eating tuna all the time, not putting sugar in my tea, not eating the lollies provided, eating 3 times during work etc. I don't explain myself but just agree and know what I'm doing is right.

I've been at it for over 10 years (not "bodybuilder", but healthy). I don't even bother trying to explain anymore. And if they are coworkers, they stop asking after a while.

My favorite: "He eats all the time, but he is so thin!" Retards.

As far as all the questions go, I keep to myself most of the time. Plus, I'm the boss so they only speak to me when the have to.

Oh, man. I'm glad I posted that. Loved the responses. Made me laugh.

"He eats all the time and yet he's so thin!"... Absolutely!

And they eat huge wholewheat banana nut muffins and point it out to you because they're eating health-i-er. Like scarfing down an 800cal bullcrap muffin with a sugary starbucks latte is "a good start"

On a slightly different note (elaborating from the original question), I do have a tendency to ramble on about my personal life a bit at work. Projects I'm working on. Stuff. I dunno. Mostly, if I'm telling a little story (kind-of just entertaining others having lunch or something) it'll be funny, but it'll be about stuff going on in my personal life.

I've been wondering if I should stop doing that.

I found out today that the woman in the office beside mine (for almost 4 years now) has run 6 marathons! She's never said a word to me about it.

Now I'd've probably mentioned something to somebody about having run 6 marathons if I'd've run 6 marathons!

I wonder if I should just quit talking about anything personal at work. A lot of people there seem to be that way. Never tell you anything about what's going on with them. "How was your weekend", "Oh, fine. How was yours" dot dot yawn.

America's so different from England. At least it seems that way to me. I worked in England so long ago now that I'm not sure if people really did used to tell me much about what they had going on in their personal lives or not.

Is it a no-no. Do the better workers just not open up? Strickly business.

    Just curious.

That would be hell. I am as open with my co-workers as I am to you guys. Then again, I work with bat crazy Buddhist dudes. They are cool as shit, and always have an interesting perspective on some story I might tell.

People who I socialize with outside of work get personal details. Others have no need to know. I'm not into idle chit chat.

Hmm... There are lots of people apparently the same way. i.e. Keep everything personal secret. Maybe that's the way to go.I don;t exactly have anything to hide though. I think it's a bit wierd people are so secretive about what they did at the weekend (for example). What's the big deal telling someone you rototilled your yard, or planted a tree? Why keep it all a secret? Unless, people's weekends are filled with not-so-innocent activities.

I don't get asked about food as much as "Why do you take so many vitamins?"

People are too lazy to try and understand nutrient partitioning, or insulin sensitivity. They are the same who like the have their food pre-packaged with a little healthy stamp of approval on it. Coincidentally the same people who like their news pre-packaged with a stamp of truth on it, no spin-zone.
