Excerpt:
Scott A. Masters, 41, is accused of shoplifting the pastry and pushing a store worker who tried to stop him. The worker was unhurt. But with that shove, his shoplifting turned into a strong-arm robbery. Masters, who appeared in court Friday, is stunned. The prosecutor shows no signs of backing down. In fact, because Masters has a prior record, he could get a sentence of 30 years to life.
they must make some pretty damn good donuts

A donut shop is the last place I'll ever commit a crime.
note to self: BUY 30 cent doughnut next time.

<- that way about 20 more pounds!

The guy has a long list of priors, and supposedly assaulted a woman. That said, I don't think that they should combine to misdemeanors into a felony. That's a dumbass way to deal justice. Either you committed and offense that's a felony, or you didn't.
I'm betting that common sense wins out and that he gets a reduced sentence.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
to improve their lives.
lol wtf lemme guess hes blaack?

Many states have these laws.
This case is mostly media fodder.
You can note the Jerry Williams case in California where he was sentenced to 25-to-life for taking a piece of pizza from some kids at a beach in Redondo. Williams served about 6 years before he got off.
Another guy got 25 to life for shoplifting a small package of AA batteries from a supermarket under California's 3-strike law under the "petty with a prior" code.
Another guy got 25 to life for stealing a bicycle.
I can't stand thieves and criminals, but the long sentences seem a bit harsh and it costs taxpayers a lot of money. Especially as these inmates get older and need medical care.
(Kind of funny, really, though).![]()

That's what you get for stealing a donut in Missouri.
Fools better recognize.
DRSE Reconnaissance

He must've took the last glazed, you know Officer Jacobs had called dibs on that one just 2 minutes prior to the theft of it...don't fuck around with a cops donuts...
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
30 years my ass, he should get the chair. That was MY doughnut.![]()
Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???
You would think if they prosecuted things like this enough, and they got enough attention, people would stop doing stupid shit.
I really don't care because only a dickhead steals a single donut and then pushes someone on the way out.
