    A Classic. Sim City

I just fired up my Super NES emulator and began playing Sim City. I dont remember the code for the money, but I can easily look it up. (if anyone wants to post it, feel free)

I need advice. Ive always used the money cheat, but today, I tried playing it with no cheats. Well, I got to having a city. Thats it. I also used Roads instead of Rail Roads. Actually, I used both, but I used Roads as a main method of transportation.

In any case, the same fucking problems arised as they always did way back when. Traffic, Polution, Housing Costs. And of course, Taxes (remember I wasnt cheating)

How the fuck do you guys remember doing this?

Scrap roads, use all rails. This kills traffic and pollution. Use the "donut" pattern when zoning, put special stuff and parks in the hole. Keep industry away from residential, best to put commercial in between. Off the top of my head, that's all ya need to know for Sim City 1. I actually play Sim City 4 from time to time. I've always been intrigued by these games, don't know why.

See thats what I do exactly, but with the cheat code. I decided to try the roads, but I guess Ill give it another shot with just the rails, but it gets expensive.

I always put the commercials in between the industrial and residential.

Ugh the fuckers never stop about the pollution though. Even though the industrials sell the best besides the residential.

I actually JUST learned that if you jack up the taxes near the end of the year, you dont get fucked in the majority vote. Jacking it up in November to be exact.

I noticed after a while, I am sitting there waiting for the next year so I can get some money. Sucks. Thats why the cheat code is so 'needed.'

With SimTower, if I needed money, Id just make condos. Ugh. Another annoying game with the "traffic."

Deport all of the Mexicans and stop trying to bring democracy to subcultures.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

Grid it out, but don't zone the whole donut until you have positive cash flow. The ratio should be 2-1-1 (residential, commercial, industrial). You should start with R and I, then C once you have a few people in town. Try to keep it close to the 2-1-1 but you always end up with a few more I than C. Oh, and place parks in every single empty space, they help with the pollution and land value.

So witch one of these sim city games do I wanna mess with. I dug on the Caesar games and Galactic Civ 2. AOE series was pretty killer too what with all the build up your civ and destroy the other guys going on at once. The sim series sounds fun ... but which one has the best depth and visual effects?

I've got Civilization 4 and Sim City 4 in the rotation right now.

Oh so your donut doesnt have all ONE type of area? I think I remember blending mine...

Did you have Residential where an Industrial would be (in a donut)?

I remember doing the park stuff and I even experimented with it back when this game was owned by everyone. I never saw a difference in pollution (using that map). It says it does, even in the manual, so fuck it. I am sure it raises the value, so I put them there anyway.

Putting the Cs where the Rs are is a good idea (in the donut), since that little asshole's advice is to put Cs near the Rs to lower housing costs.

As far as the sequels go, I never took to them. Theyre just too realistic to be fun. Reminds me of Punch Out and Super punch out. When boxing games came onto PS2s and such, they got too realistic and I no longer cared.
