    Text Message Spam

Well this morning when I woke up I found my first text message spam. It said I can get free painkillers at man555.com. I normally wouldn't think much about it but when I checked out Google Trends I it was number 4 for search trends today. Just wondering if this got anyone else. It actually seems like a pretty effective method of spamming, who doesn't check their phone as soon as a text comes in. If I am the only one then this is a worthless thread, but if it affected other people then I am worried.

Its kinda obvious when they send it to you. I have Nextel...and I have to download each txt that comes in before I can read them, however, I can see the number or ADDRESS its coming from. Obviously, if its not a name I dont recognize and of course if its an address, it gets tossed.

    Man555.com?

Seems alot of folks got them across all networks. I am guessing most cell phones have the same first 3 digits after the area code. Since it comes from an email address they just set up a macro to go through all 9999 combinations for each 3 number prefix and area code.

Never gotten spam on my phone, and if I did get a text message I probably wouldn't pay attention because I never use it....I can't stand typing shit with my big thumbs and those tiny buttons....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

It really shouldnt be allowed. I know if I download my messages (receive them), I can pay for that. Its almost as if I am REQUIRED to get a text message plan to avoid extra charges.
