    Need a personal trainer...

for my Mom. She has crash dieted her whole life. Hates to exercise. I would she is about 50lbs overweight. She is 50 years old and works 40 hours a week. I was thinking of getting her a personal trainer for a couple months to teach her some exercises and diet advice. Maybe 1 or 2 times a week with a program to follow when the trainer is not there. I tried showing her things but she does not stick with it. I think if she knew it was costing a lot of money she would take it seriously. I'm talking a trainer that will come to my moms house. How much do you think this will cost per session? Bad idea?

Ask her if she's interested in ti first. I wouldn't want my kids forcing a trainer on me. It'd be kind of insulting. But if she's ok with it, then gun-ho

Unfortunately, you cannot make your mother want to get in shape. If she isn't into it, a trainer might not be able to help much.

liek the other two said, she has to want it first.

perhaps you could be her "gym partner" and attend her training sessions if she's interested in going. this way she doesn't feel alienated and has someone who she can talk to about it afterward and keep each other accountable.

Unfortunately our schedules conflict so we are unable to work out together. She wants to lose weight. She goes on a diet about once every 6 months. The expensive diets, WW's, nutrisystem. Now she wants to start getting the nutrisystem meals. Thats expensive. I thought this would be a better alternative.

Wish I could but we both work different hours. I would meet with trainer first and tell her to come on here and state her credentials and attach a training vid of herself. I would prefer the trainer to be a women. I think my Mom would feel more comfortable with that.

Keep telling her she's fat. That's what I do to my mom.

No effect yet... but I'll keep trying!

$60 is the most you should pay per session in this area for an at-home trainer, but you can find completely unqualified people who will charge twice that.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

I've been looking on craigslist and that seems to be the going rate. Not to bad. I thought it would have been closer to a hundred.

Craigslist has been creepy lately, to many predators on it now.
