Thread: One of the saddest things ive ever read.

I've heard about this before. To be honest, the thing I find most shocking is how unstable 13 year olds can be nowadays. Being 12 and in 7th grade was the roughest year in my life. I got picked on and beat up a lot. At least her parents seemed to have genuine care for her and involvement in her life. I'm disgusted by the fact that a parent actually had involvement in the harassment of a 13 year old in which she knew was emotionally and medically unstable. She probably gave guidance to her daughter in writing the messages. They should release her name. I think parents need to especially watch out for their kids when they are around ages 11-15... dangerous times.

People don't realise just how powerful of a tool the internet can be. I remember when I was first discovering the internet, I got teased alot too...however, I reminded myself that it's almost always somebody hiding behind keyboard. It's unfortunate that not everyone has this same mind set

That family that did this to megan might not pay for what they did in this world, but God knows they will in the afterlife.

why? that is what she was and it's about time people face the fact that when a person is fat the fat gets more attention than the human being inside it gets. her fat defined her, ostracized her and that new social leprosy ultimately led to her death.

when we see a fat kid we don't think or say oh that little girl with the lively blue eyes do we? no, we say that fat girl. it's a comment on us, our society as a whole not on her. a fat adult is one thing, a fat child should be a call to anyone that something is seriously wrong in that young life and they need intervention. and the fat is the least of it, the fact that in our society you are a useless piece of human nothing once you are buried deep withing those layers of lard is the problem.

TBH, she is right for the most part. almost all of my friends will refer to certain people as, "Oh yeah, the fat one?" "yeah, her"

So your scapegoat is since, supposively, all of society summarizes that girls value soley on apeparence, it's ok for you to label her the same?

Almost ALL teenagers, especially girls, put on weight while they are going through puberty.

Fuck, almost everyone in your little society these days are a carbon copy of eachother. "Oh she/he says it so it must be ok"

I was chubby when I was that age too. Now look at me. She had so much potential and to just go and label her "fat girl", I just find that extremely cold

i'm saying if people saw Megan and not what was "wrong" with her, i doubt this ever would have happened. it's nuts to think her being overweight was not the basis for a lot of her angst. anyone that lives anywhere in the US has got to have seen great kids get totally dismissed simply because their parents feed them a shitty diet and allow them to become obese. once a kid is obese that is what people see. not the smart or the funny or the warm heart... some people won't care much that this girl died because fat makes her not so human. ever see A Time To Kill? where the lawyer asks the jury to "imagine she were white". I think it's better to call a spade a spade here and get to the heart of the real issue. fat kids in the US go through hell on earth and it will not stop till we start looking thru the fat to the child and teaching our children to do the same.

if you can comprehend what i'm saying for two seconds my point is that it is not now nor was it ever ok to call her or see her as "the fat girl" but people did and she is dead because it's pretty much standard procedure in the US to take in visual information about people first and fat = leprosy. and for the record i don't think it was okay to treat lepers as subhuman either.

I can't do that. When I see a fat person, I see someone who is lazy, doesn't care about their appearance and a waste of space.

I don't say this to my Mom but I do feel like they aren't utilizing their time wisely. They always have excuses for not working out or not eating right. Drives me nuts.

yes but kids are often trapped by what their parents buy and set in front of them. or the shitty role models they provide. the last letter in her name is N which she said stands for neglected... i wonder why.

Yeah, you can't really blame the kids. Their parents are at fault for that. I look at the parents in disgust. Like when I'm at a fast food joint, which is very rarely, I see Moms in there with kids every time. Fuckin idiots.

At one point i wanted to become a nutritionist and focus on helping overweight kids. What stopped me was the realization that it was pretty much useless when i saw two very obese boys at McDonald's and turned to look at their equally obese parents. The parents are 98% of the problem.

That's not always necessarily true. I was obese back in high school, but it wasn't because I didn't care. No one ever explained to me what a calorie really was, what the difference between calories from protein, carbs, and fats were.

People always said soda was bad, but I always thought it was because of the acidity and what it did to your teeth, not necessarily the massive sugar content of it.

This is coming from someone who took honors and AP classes all through high school, just to give you an idea. Nutrition education is pathetic in this country, and you can see that from the fat fucks teaching "Health" in high school. I know I had like a 240lb fat man teaching me about "Health".

If you're fat, it's ultimately your own fault. You could partially blame the parents, but in most cases you have yourself to blame.

Lack of knowledge is, in most cases, nonsense: I-net.

The parents that picked on the fat girl (that's what she was) are fucking pathetic basterds, but hanging yourself because someone left you is the easy way out, even if you're fat.

It's harsh, but people should stay objective. Stop looking at things just from the fat girl's perspective and start seeing the bigger picture. Death to socialism. Viva la liberalism.

The reason people get overweight is typically a combination of several things.

Although being lazy may be one of them, i think we often times chose that as the main reason that people have this problem...."oh, they are fat because they don't exercise enough. they are lazy." "that person is just lazy and doesn't try to make healthy choices."

Obviously this is not always the case. There are many issues being researched right now trying to figure out why some struggle with weight more than others.

I think it is more complex than we make it out to be at times.

The fact that the girl lost 20lbs means that she was actually doing something about it and not being lazy.

The girl was not well though and I feel the myspace was just the trigger that killed a sick individual. Its not what happens to you that is important its how you react to it.

Lets stop the fat people hate please. When you have severe mental problems your weight is just a side effect that could go to any end of the spectrum.


I think here main problem was that a large part of her self worth came from other peoples perception of her so in reality she had given up all controll of her life to some petty, mean, manipulative people on fucking myspace
