Do you swim as a form of exercise??

Due to my temporary health problems, I had to resort to swimming!

I actually swam up to 1.5- 2 miles a day twice a day!

So, yeah.... here comes the poll!

    Hell yeah!!

Growing up, I developed Leg perthes disease and was either immobilized in full leg/hip casts or in big huge braces...This lasted 5 years. All I could do with the braces off was sleep...or swim!!! SO I became quite the avid swimmer (not good by any standards, but perseverant! lol).

Nowadays, I like it coz its hard as fuck!!! Id run 5 miles daily without issues, but swimming the same distance kills me, and I enjoy pain!! At the same time, when joints or muscles get a little stiff or if Im babying an injury, the "weightlessness" of swimming does wonders.

    U still swim?

Aahh... you jumped the gun! Now you must VOTE!!! Ha Ha!!!!

Seriously, I do swim but now that I can return back to my old routine (with less weights and no steroids) .

I pushed it back to a mile only but do a weight workout... major and minor along with machine cardio (elleptical/bike/treadmill) I'm trying to go twice a day very soon!

    LMFAO, I like this poll!

I did jump the gun...very few lifters or bodybuilders use swimming as a means for cardio/resistance training.

    Off to vote

Swimming is hard! When I started a year and half ago, I could only do 3 laps without my lats killing and it sick to know that now I am up to 2 miles (68 laps) in less than an 1.5 hours. But, in my journal, I have new focuses though!

PS. I saw what you checked off in the poll!

I use to love to swim because I was a fatass and floated nicely. I went swimming a few months ago at the state park lake. I had not been swimming once during my body recomposition. I jumped in the lake and sunk like a fucking rock.

Scared the shit out of me, I thought I was going to drown.

I didn't forget how. My body lost all of its buoyancy. I basically went from a being an intertube to being a rock.

I was born with gills, when I was four my parents would take us to the pool and I would dive under and hold my breath for over 2 minutes my mom tells me she'd almost have a heart attack...I love swimming under water it's so serene and you have this feeling of being in a whole other world.....I've been thinking of taking up scuba lately....closest thing to just floating through space....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I can't submerge past 3 feet. I have some sort of inner ear problem, and if I go more than 3 feet down I'll get sick and puke.

I'm not a strong swimmer, but i enjoy it. I won't go in the water around NY though. I once saw a sneaker in the water...what the hell is a sneaker doing in the water? When i hit the beach, i just chill out and tan. If i'm in a pool, i'll swim, i also won't pee in a pool, cause it seems unhygienic.

That usually would occur when 8 ft wave crashes into you when you're not expecting it.

Did you finally start swimming again, though?

I knew you'd show up in this thread and talk about serenity!

Bastard! You live in Hawaii! The only thing I have to look forward to is 70 hammerhead shark looking for food on our beaches!
So, I don't swim in our lovely oceans in South Florida anymore!
