Why bother? If I want to search something not wiki related I use Google. If I want to find something on wiki I still use Google, only I add the word wiki to the search string.

Google is great. Windows is not (and neither is Linux). I doubt wiki will be able to beat Google.

If I could game on a Mac, then yes. Now I'm basically forced to use Windows XP. It's not all that bad and certainly not as bad as some Apple fans make it out to be, but it's definitely not great. Vista is worse, I hear.

Linux is too complicated for a standard user like me.

Gotta tip for you. If you're looking for something on a particular website. Just add "site:wikipedia.org" (or whatever site) to the search. The results will only be from that domain. And that includes sub-domains, such as support.wikipedia.org.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

I second this, in particular distributions like opensuse can be downloaded as a live cd, so you can burn the iso, boot off the cd and it just runs as a live distro on your ram, doesnt touch your hard drive, perfect for trying out linux with no obligations to creating new partitions etc.

Also VMWare works great too for that purpose, you can adjust the amount of RAM that the OS image uses, so you can use multiple OS's on the same base system if needed.

same with Virtual PC, each OS is just an image file on your hard drive, typically allocating 256megs is enough.
