    "The Grizzly Man" movie

    Did anyone see this movie?

If so, please comment about it for the fact that you just cannot be a 100% sure of what you think you've accomplished training animals such as bears, they will NEVER be your trusted friend.

I just think it was slightly ridiculous how he ran around doing what he did and then getting killed for it.

I tried to poll this thread but it said my time ran out???? Nice

Anyway, the poll now has several of statements that I would like to say.

I think it was necessary to have Tim go out there and be "friend's" with the bears

Bears are trusted animals especially in their habitat when they are starving!

It's OK to bother the bears while they are desperately seeking Salmon in the river. Remember, your old pals!!!

You can hold a great conversation with a bear when he's pooping. The Bear is a great listener

Set up your 2 man tent next to where the bears live.

Make sure you interact with the cub because the Mom/Pop needs your lending hand

This whole documentary uncovered things we did NOT already know! Kudos!

Someone made some $$ off this movie. People died along w/ the bear

Do they show him getting attacked or is there a director's cut? I think they played the audio on TV for a while. It was pretty disturbing, that guy was an idiot.

I dont think he was stupid, bears are not killing machines that go around killing everyone. If that was true they would kill any animal they encounter in the forest. He considered bears like people and he was right. Most bears were "good" and didnt kill him but like people some bears are not that good or maybe he was only hungry. This theory has been proven with many animals, crocodiles, white sharks, lions..

The movie didnt show the audio, anyone got that?

This is true, I feel sorry for the poor bastard who happens upon a lion that couldn't pay his last few mortgage fees.

If you get mauled in the forest by a bear, and no one else is around, does it still hurt?

If the bear snaps your neck in the forest, and no one else is around, does it still make a sound?

If you see a bear about to maul you in the forest and you shit in your pants, and no one elso is around, does it still smell like shit?

They couldn't have the audio on that bc/ they did their routine on checking them out and couldn't find them later discovering that they were dead

I saw it on animal planet. The guy was a lunatic anyway. I remember him touching the bear's shit and talking about how beautiful it was because it was once inside the bear.

Wild animals are just that...wild. I love big cats with a passion. If a show comes on animal planet abotu big cats I have to watch it, but I also realize that they would kill me if I got too close. So, watching them on television is good enough for me.

Some people have the gift and some just wish they did....Take the movie I watched the other day called 'To Walk with Lions' it was about George_Adamson one of the founders of wildlife conservancy. He knew the dangers of the beasts he lived with and respected that, he didn't pretend he had some gift that no other man possessed he believed that anyone could befriend these wild animals but that they could turn on you in a flash...he didn't fool himself into believing he had become one of the pride or anything...

As for the Grizzly Guy he did seem a bit strange....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I remember seeing a transcript or something on the news where his girlfriend was yelling at him to get back in the tent or vice versa and then screaming, etc. The lens cap was left on the video camera as they were being mauled but it recorded the audio, pretty creepy.

that makes more sense... but if you notice, those who are more on TV such as Grizzly man and that Australian guy who also died..... maybe their personalities were for show/tv. I'm sure they act like that but probably a little less toned down. No one would no except for their spouses, I guess.

Both died. He was yelling at his girlfriend to run while she beat the bear over the head with a frying pan. I admire her loyalty to her man, but it was all in vein. As soon as the bear killed the guy, it turned on her and mauled her to death.

This guy and the dude who went to Alaska and died in the abandoned bus, their hearts are in the right places but lets remember, their heads weren't....they seemed to over romanticize wilderness living, they didn't respect the wild like a real mountain man would, they didn't see the real danger they faced and in the end they hurt the message rather than helping it alone...I'd like to close with words from a woman who got in close with real down to earth people, MK Rawlings...

“If there can be such a thing as instinctual memory, the consciousness of land and water must lie deeper in the core of us than any knowledge of our fellow beings. We were bred of the earth before we were born of our mothers. Once born, we can live without our mothers or our fathers or any other kin or friend, or even human love. We cannot live without the earth or apart from it, and something is shriveled in man’s heart when he turns away from it and concerns himself only with the affairs of men.”
