At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a
certain justice manifested within that cruelty.
The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered
the “apex predator”, can still fall victim to implemented “team work”
strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and “survival
of the pack mentality” bred into the canines.
See the remarkable photograph below - courtesy of Nature Magazine. Note that
the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing,
while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The
third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the gator.
Not for the squeamish!

A Smart Dog
A tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar
and well-fed belly that he had a home.
He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep in a corner.
An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
The next day he was back, resumed his position in the hall, and slept for an
hour. This continued for several weeks.
Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: “Every afternoon your dog comes to
my house for a nap.”
The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar:
“He lives in a home with five children—he’s trying to catch up on his
sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?”

I like the "what the hell are you looking at" look on that first pup.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
to improve their lives.

Thats the "Don't even fucking bother me right now" look, my dogs give it to me when I either have been reading a book and they're all asleep then I get up to herd them into the hallway for nighttime lockdown or when they each have a rawhide chew bone and think I'm gonna steal it from them....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

My dogs are allowed in our room while we sleep(2 sleep in the bed with us) just not anywhere but the hall way unsupervised or else they will get to chasing each other and knock shit down, our belgian malinois can jump on the dinner table, and one time they rearranged the chair and couch in the living jumping on and off of them, they have those EZ slide pads on them so one little push and they glide across the room.

i toss and turn too much, then a cat gets near my legs and i don't want to move n disturb them. makes for not much sleep. their nighttime missions are to remove the tablecloth and tear open whichever type food is not in their dish.

LW, you post the best pictures. Thanks for sharing.
My doggy and kitty sleep on the bed every night. The kitty figured out it's safer to sleep up by our heads.
The doggy is only 11 pounds and gets bumped around a lot. She doesn't seem to mind. She is a great watch dog, very smart and clean as well. She uses the litter box in the house. She knows every command you can imagine. She'll piss on command.
If there isn't a Your Pet Doggy Pic thread someone should start one. Dogs are awesome.
