    Best tv to buy

I just bought a new house and I would like to get a new flat screen, but I know nothing about electronics. Anyone here have any recommendations? I would like something nice but not overly expensive.

It's amazing how all of the sudden LG and Samsung came out into the market.

Looks like we have a few people here buying new sets now that HDTV will be taking over next year.
    Income tax season also helps.
I am also looking to buy a TV come next month.

I think most flat panel tv's are coming from South Korea. So it would make sense that Korean manufactures are near the top.

I think LG is a group of Korean Manufactures Remember shitty brands like Goldstar?

Well LG joined up with Philips, who are innovators in the tech world.

Samsung, have been a leader in the tech world for a while, not necessarily TV's but again being a Korean company has probably helped with the Flat Panel tv side of there business.

    I remember Goldstar..eek!
But teaming with Phillips sure must have made them better.

I have my eye on a Phillips 52" from Costcos....

There's a website that does that for you, it searches the stores or web for the best price.

I forgot the site but now would be a good time for me too also look into it.

By the way I heard that Best buy was actually selling thier products cheaper online.

Yep, LG merge with Goldstar, Zenith, and Phillips. They're now one of the largest electronics producers in the world.

As for TV's I'm partial to Sharp.

Best Buy price matched mine, I ended up getting a great deal on it. I recommend doing it that way. Not only do you get the same price as the one I found online, but I got to take it home with me that day instead of waiting a month to get it, and the warranty programs in the stores seem so much better to me.

    I love my Samsung.

Remember with a plasma you have to drain and refill the plasma after 10,000 hours.....

My Phillips 50" plasma has a beautiful picture, it was like 2g's, our 42"LCD is Samsung also great picture, it was $1100 and my 24" Panasonic LCD I use for my monitor was $200.....those 3 brands you can trust I have found.....my first was a cheap ass Vizio and it had bad ghosting problems, then we exchanged it for an LG and dark scenes in movies were hard to see even at night after fiddling with color and contrast so we finally spent a little more and got the Phillips....

but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I posted this in another thread, the link is worth a look.

This is work a look... LCD vs Plasma

If you want the best hold out for a good OLED TV(organic light emitting diode), although this technology is just out, and very exspensive- sand will be superseded by SED.

[The best will by SED, which is expected to be released in the next year or so. This uses similar technoloy to CRT's, except that it can have cathode ray tubes for every pixel, unlike traditional CRT which uses one for the whole display. CRT (traditional) handles black levels far better than LCD's and plasmas, so when realeased SED will own all.
