    Post Akira (2009)

    Akira (2009)

Leonardo DiCaprio as Kenada? Hell yeah!

Joseph Lewitt....(what was the rest?) as Tatsuyo? Eh, I always liked him and he looks a lil jap.

Now, I dont think this is a hard movie to fuck up, but who can tell with Hollywood these days..

    Either way, I am psyched!

    (I wonder who plays AKIRA?)

Holy mother of christ, I hope youre kidding. That guy is nothing more than a pretty boy.

Kenada has to be a bit of a cocky prick, not a cocky model. I can see Leo being a bully to Joseph big time.

Leo is one of my favorite actors. He did fantastic in Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries, and the Aviator. However, with playing this character, Leo can be more of himself, bringing it a lot of naturalistic behavior.

Think about it, Leo, an oscar winner, playing a 'kid,' with the best bike bullies another kid whom is smaller and started off on 3rd Rock. Its in the pudding!

To be honest, the best things I liked from the movie was Tatsuyo's powers. The times when he and the 3 others aged kids fought and the bike scenes were what made the movie, IMO.

I'm totally with you, the human torch guy would be awful in this movie. Leo actually has some integrity and I think he can fit with the Kaneda character well. I hope this movie is dark, fucked up and uncomfortable like the original. I hope it isn't watered down with alot of hollywood bullshit.

If this is made the right way I'll definitely see it at the movies. I haven't seen the movie in 10 years but I remember being very impressed with the artwork.

I bet they'll cast Emile Hirsch as Tetsuo. He's playing Speed Racer.

The quick and the dead? He was your average actor in that movie. Anyone with a baby face couldve played that role.

Watch one of the movies I listed, youll see he has talent. Way more than the role requires.

It is downright offensive that Hollywood is even getting to touch Akira. Otomo's Masterpiece is a metaphor for the rebirth of the Japanese visual mindset post atomic bomb. Bringing the story into an American setting completely takes it out of context.

I'm just surprised the Wachowski brothers aren't involved ...or are they?
