France sings to the USA for Pangea Day

On May 10, 2008, a four-hour film festival will be held at several locations around the globe, and broadcasted online, in theaters, and on television. The project is apparently an effort to encourage people in different countries to create films telling their story for others in an effort to build greater human understanding between countries without the governments. It appears to be quite an undertaking. . .some 2500 entries were submitted for their contest from all over the world.

Some countries submitted small stories of their citizens learning and singing the national anthems of other nations. Kenyans sang the national anthem of India; Australian tackled the anthem of Lebanon. . .Japan sang the national song of Turkey.

A group in France chose to sing to the USA. . .all four verses of our national anthem, which they learned in English. It's a nice little film short profiling their performance, with small stories of each of them practicing and learning the words, with scenes from Paris in the background. . .

Here is the link for this project - it looks interesting....

    Suprising of France.

    Interesting idea.

I'm sure some people will nut all over this idea calling it brilliant and a wake up call for the world along with other overzealous bs.

I say it is cool, food for thought concerning trans-cultural relations and maybe something to spark thoughts of why we feel certain ways about other countries, nothing more!
