My wife is a nurse in a major regional hospital in the ICU. You would not believe the stories. I would say don't get so sick that you end up in the hospital.
I seen a Dr.Phil show tonight an it was talking about a virus that spreads by touching skin an it travels in your body like cancer an its immune to antibiotics. The reason am starting this thread is too get the info out there I guess it kills more then AIDS. Any info on it post here so it can be known how to avoid it. They say the best way is to always wash your hands an try to keep yourself in a clean healthy environment.

My sister is a nurse in training and told me about this. My understanding is tends to be fatal if left untreated. I'm also under the impression that it'll go away (possibly remission?) if treated.
But yeah, that stuff is more prevalent than HIV.

I used to work in a hospital as well, but the viral strains back then (less than twenty years ago) were nothing compared to these crazy mutant strains these days.
When AIDS was first discovered, I had a nurse buddy who truly thought we would all surely die from this virus. I'd always believed that the end of mankind would be via the common cold.
Why can't we figure out viruses?
Or have we already figured out their pathology, yet not figure out how to contain them?..... *enter conspiracy theory here*
How bout some necrotizing fasciitis. Cover those wounds and keep them clean.

That's some nasty stuff. Followed by your average case of Gangrene. Man, that is a smell that stays in your memory banks for a long time.
Personally, I think the CDC has had a few run away pets.

Viruses share genetic with everything and constantly change epitopes, the reason you need a flu shot every year. HIV mode of infection thru reverse transcriptase is probably the most interesting pathway I've studied.
As for MRSA, it is a prime example of the the abuse of antibiotics. If you shower and have proper hygiene you shouldn't get infected. The stuff found in hospitals is really opportunistic of immunosurpressed. They really have hyped up this bacteria in my opinion.
mrsa sucks dick i had it last summer after a wrestling camp when they didnt clean the mats for 4 days. its a bitch to get rid of

It's been found in most of the local schools around this area and they have to clean and disinfect everything. Lots os news stories over the last year. I agree that you need to practice good hygine, but I think most of it is blown out of proportion.

Its not resistant to all antibiotics, just methicillin (methicillin resistant staph aureus). Its treated with vancomycin which is a serious antibiotic, ototoxic, hepatotoxic, neurotoxic etc.
Like someone already posted its a very typical opportunistic infection of immunocompromised patients in a hospital setting. Its been more in the mainstream recently but its not too big of a deal if treated medically.
There are tons of strains of bacteria which are resistant to various antibiotics, there are strains of VRSA (vancomycin resistant staph aureus), VRE (vanc. resistant enterobacter i believe) and others not so common.
They hypothesize that one day VRSA and MRSA may be in the same hospital and will mingle and share genetic information and create a real superbug. That would be a bitch because vancomycin is the strongest glycopeptide we have and is used to fight off the resistant strains of bacteria.
Don't worry guys, the next pandemic is supposedly gonna be the Avian Flu anyway. Remember hand washing and proper hygiene are the best ways to prevent infection.

Gays of our lives.

:d..
I must have seen about 2-3 different documentaries about the H5:N1 strain on the Science channel in the past three months. They always paint this bleak picture and make it seem as the whole of civilization will be demolished. Supposedly our stores of anti virals will only be enough to save the higher ups in society and a vaccine will become available after almost all of America is dead or dying from the thing. Its like the black plague all over again.

You're diabetic, and have a depressed/supressed immune system.....but you're in steroid heaven?![]()
Yeah you should pay a visit its where steroids are not against the law lol. No just kidding the truth is you can still use steroids when your a diabetic you just have to watch what your doing an pay attention to your body. An in some cases steroids can help diabetes. I have made some great accomplishments for having diabetes an hyper thyroidism for over twenty years most people that see me don't even think I have diabetes. I started out at 115 lbs skinny as can be an started lifting weights on an off for 5 years now. I got up too 155 lbs in three years all natural am 5"8 in those three years I did a lot of studying on AAS being a diabetic I had too an have been using on an off for two years now. Now am 5"8 Biceps:17 inches, Chest:48 inches, forearms:15 1/2 inchs an I weight 198 lbs.
