    Computer Help

Ok for whatever reason over the weekend my Outlook won't receive any messages from one of my accounts. I keep getting this message:

    Receiving reported error (0x800CCC90) Your
incoming (POP3) email server hs reported an internal error. If you continue
to receive this message, contact your server administrator or internet
    service provider. The server responded.
So I went to Start Run and typed in telnet pop.rogers.com 110

Then I get this. Could not open connection to the host, on port 110: connection failed.

Any suggestions. I can't find any solutions.

    Well, I would have helped.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

Probably should have posted the question an hour ago instead of wasting time trying to figure it out

At this point, I can only recommend that he check his chair-to-keyboard adapter.

Start be completely removing the email account from Outlook and recreating it. Those profiles are known to go bad for no reason sometimes.

You could also try deleting any items in your out box.

Before you do the above, try funning Outlook by going to Start->Run->Outlook /safe

That launches Outlook in safe mode. See if it works okay then.

The key phrase in that error message is this bit:

    Your
    incoming (POP3) email server
It's not your computer, it's your service provider. Could be somone's sent you a huge attachment or something. Don't delete your Outlook account until you've contacted them and got an explanation.

Retrieving email is like retrieving a web page, if you get 'internal server error' it's not you, it's them.

I got that before, luckily my service provider has a webmail site to login and preview messages on their server, I had a catalog from one of our vendors coming through but my account wouldn't handle it and the 20 other messages in line so I just deleted it through the webmail and downloaded it from their website. All was fixed afterwards. Another time I had pop.server issues they had changed the name of the pop server and only posted a notice on the website.....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
