Height of your TV from the floor
I think that the TV should be at eye level and usually i lie down on the couch while watching TV. But i've been watching these home renovation shows and quite often i see them mounting the TV above the fireplace. That seems a bit high to me. How high is you TV from the floor?

Just above eye level so that when laid back in the recliner I don't have to put a pillow behind my head to see it
"We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Natures inexhaustible sources of energy — sun, wind and tide. ... I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that."

Tips on how to hang a flat screen television - New Technology TV
Quote:
I did this with my 52'' in the livingroom but with the bedroom it's only 4'' from the ceiling....yes, 4'' from the ceiling. I watch TV in my bedroom lying down so it's perfect, besides my computer is directly below the TV. |

Eye Level when sitting or lying on the couch.
I was going to Wall mount it, but When I set it up like this it just seemed right.
Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

I like the idea of it above my fireplace or like a picture on the wall. But I just don't enjoy the viewing angle.

I was considering getting one of those faux fireplaces. But I was considering getting one low enough (which will hold the tv's weight) but I dont think it is a good idea to place the TV on it considering that is a heat source.

It's in a perfect spot, my room is pretty tiny so I didn't have a spot for my old 27'' tube and mounting the heavy sucker was not an option. The 37'' weighs less and takes up less space and when I do watch the TV in the bedroom it's laying down. For the living room it definitly should be eye level. |

When sitting down the bottom of the tv is at eye level....but I have vaulted ceilings in my great room and master b-room so if it goes any lower it looks odd with the tall ceilings/walls. Too much open space between top of tv and ceiling.

On another note...having an 42" HD plasma in the bedroom has proven to be detrimental to my quantity of sleep. Love watching the thing so damn much, and it seems when its dark in the room, its that much better. Once I get wrapped up in a show that looks killer in HD, I cannot turn it off, no matter how late(or early depending on perspective) it is. HD in the bedroom can cause insomnia!!
