Wow, that was a crazy little walk....I think I appreciate it more from right here in my old chair, lol.
I kept expecting the guy to base jump at any time....that would have been a nice touch if he could have done it . Cool vid, MM.

He must've had a base chute on cause only a fool would prance around like that with out a tether or chute. Also notice how he intentionally steps right on the edge of the holes he had to have had a pack on to do something like that.....I know I wouldn't be the little wuss clipping and unclipping every 10 feet like the guy toward the end that he passes......

Watching this one it doesn't look so bad. I guess the way you hold the camera makes a difference. I would still take a base jumping chute so I could jump off afterwards.....

There is a walkway in Pacifica here that is a little dilapidated but nothing quite like that. It was a lookout point on the beach setup for wartime. Mayhaps I'll hit there this weekend, haven't been there in about a decade, wont be as exciting as this though.

I wonder who created the path. Someone commented that it was made in 1901. Why do you suppose someone had commented that this path could not be created today with modern technology? I don't know if I agree. |

No shit it would be easier with modern equipment, helicopters to lift long sections up while guys hang from ropes and use high impact pneumatic tools to secure it in place. Plus we could make it to last for a 100 years with barely any decay. Using stainless nuts and bolts, anodized aluminum, cement mixed with long life synthetic materials. That's probably what they have in mind for the restoration project mentioned on the wikipedia page for the place....

Whoever it was had to have done a lot of acid in their day to be so delusional, obviously we can do far more than build a damn path.

Funny thing is that normal day to day stuff freaks me out more than not staying clipped in on a trek like this. When you have to be in the zone it's calming. I don't know why. Thanks for the relaxing vid.
