Ever had a moment you regret?

Just the other day I was on 125st. getting on the highway to drop off a friend in Washington Hieghts when I see what appears to be an old homeless man running and a few seconds later an older lady behind him.

It turns out he stole a purse from this lady who was driving with her convertable with the top down, I guess the bum saw her purse in the backseat who knows.

Well anyway I was all the way to the right of traffic and I didn't realize what happened till they were half a block away.

Had I been aware of what was going on I would have pounced on him.

The lady was in shape for sure, he was huffing and puffing while she looked like she was jogging.

Yeah you could have got her convertible ya big dummy.....

But what kind of idiot who lives in the city doesn't know not to drive with your purse in the seat with windows down or the top down? Even my gf knows better and things like that rarely happen here in Hawaii.

Everyone, who's sane, has had several moments of regret.

My regret would be moving from Los Angeles.

Luckily these construction workers moved it to their lot, she left the car with the keys in it.

That was pretty dumb of her when you consider this was in Harlem.

Yep, that very same night I was asleep I heard noise coming from the back of my apartment where my car is parked. I'm a few feet away from it looking down from my window.

I looked and noticed the car was rocking violently back and forth. This was at 3:00 in the morning. I took my flashlight for a better look and saw her on him, they didn't notice the flashlight or they just didn't care.
Well my regret was I didn't set up my surveillance camera with night vision in time to record this.

After 30 minutes I had enough I tried to go to bed but her moaning kept me up till 4:00 in the morning. They were animals I say.

I have a lot of regrets. I never make sense of anyone that says they have none. No matter what the explanation (which always sounds like it comes from some self-help book), I never accept it as a logical answer and either write them off as a liar, dumb, or both.

its not worth it to live with the weight of my regrets.

i still bear the scars (be they emotional/physical/whatever),
but I remember the lesson and push the regret aside.

The last regret that i can remember me and my GF were coming home on a sunday night from a nice dinner. I was going down a one way street a couple of blocks from home and had to stop for a double parked car that was still blocking most of the street. I couldn't get by and starting honking at the guy. After a min or two i got mad and got out of my car to see what this asshole's problem was. By this time there was a line of cars behind me waiting to get by, some backing out of the block others just honking.

I get to the car (It was a brand new Audi A6) and see one kid in the driver's seat with a blank stare on his face and another kid sleeping in the back, no one in shotgun. Both kids were still in there teens, so it seemed. I asked the kid if he's okay, no answer. I asked louder, no answer, just that blank stare into nowhere. He looked at me, but more so through me. So i shook the kid with no verbal response. I did my quick first aid assessment, made sure the kid was breathing and had a pulse etc. During this process the kid in the back wakes up and is actually verbal. I ask him what they're on (i think it might have been PCP or something like Ketamine) and the kid wouldn't tell me. So i tell them i'm not a cop and their blocking a street and very soon me or someone else will call the police and they will be fucked. So we both try to talk to the driver with no verbal response, just that same blank stare. I finally tell the kids they better park the car and walk it off, whatever they are on. We get the driver out of the car and put him in the back, the other kid assures me he knows how to drive (his gait was steady, and his speech/thought pattern was clear, which is the only reason i even let him in the driver's seat). As they pull out and make a right i continue going straight but glance over to the right and see the car going like 5 mph and swaying over to the oncoming lane. At this point i decide that this dickhead either A)is fucked up or B)can't drive. Either way he lied to me. So i call the precinct and tell them that there is a drunk driver on the streets swerving into oncoming lanes, i describe the car and the kids etc. They then tell me they are too busy but will try and handle it ASAP. That was a bullshit cop out. I decided to just go home. I felt guilty for two days because i could've just through the car into the first available space, locked the keys in the trunk and told them to go fuck themselves and to sober up then drive off (my cop friend locks people's keys in the trunk when he doesn't arrest high/drunk drivers but doesn't want them on the streets until they are sober).

My inaction had me pissed because those kids were driving around my neighborhood all wrecked and god knows what they could've done. I kindda wrestled with those thoughts for a while but let it go because what was done was done and i atleast tried to do something with safety in mind. Hindsight is twenty twenty dude.

Thats a tired ass phrase that rings true every time I find out later how much more I could have done.

Its not your fault those kids were dumb and effed up man,
you did what you knew was best at the moment. at least you took the initiative.

DAMN, twice a fool in one day.....she damn well deserved it I say. Only people I know who would do that are cops trying to run a trap scheme like the ones who pose as drunks with jewelry....

But honestly I wouldn't be that easy of a mark here in Hawaii and this is the least likely place for something like that to happen.....

I don't think I have 1 single regret...and I'm perfectly sane (at least I'd like to think so) Anything stupid that I have done (which wasn't anything that out of the ordinary), I've learned from. I wouldn't trade away that experience for anything. I had to learn the hard way from time2time when I was a teenager.

    Everybody does things they regret.

For me, my regrets usually involve too much alcohol.

I love it when he tries to give an expression based off what he thinks society wants to see.

Yeah you always ask me to pound your ass when you are drinking. Good thing I wasn't drunk as well, then I would have something to regret.

On a serious note, hearing someone say "I dont have regrets" translates to me as to how THEY deal with regrets. Having a regret is a lesson learned, not a damnation.

Its a silly thing people are afraid to admit. reminds me of a person who constantly gets a cold. "Oh do you have allergies?" "no, I just have a cold." "Again? Damn, so you always get sick?! What a shitty immune system you must have."

This is something I truly regret......

once upon a time, some cute blonde female asked me for a ride because she got in a figth with her man. I gave her a ride and was been all nice to her, bought her a pack of ciggs, helped her get away from her bfs house. The ride continued on the highway and I started hitting on her, she was flurting then her friend called.
So to make the story short her friend picked her up, and I din't take advantangue of the situation (of course I gave her my number but next day she forgave her man and was back living with him) . So I din't hit it, wasted gas, and she kept the whole pack of ciggs. Leason to be learned...........Dont leave for tommorrow what you could hit today.
