    Your reason for..

I'm sure there have been some threads in the past asking what everyones reason was for showing interest in weight training or why they started lifting weights, but i was just curious what everyones reason was, i.e. improve self esteem, impress girls, etc.

no danny, i dont want your reason of wanting to become a boss.

I generally flex in front of the mirror for 8 hours a day, so I figured it's only natural that I should start lifting weights.

When you're a 112lb loser with serious dietary/health problems and a chip on your shoulder from being called every name under the sun because you're a runt, it's kind of essential to do something about it.

So it was to look good (read: scary) and to get healthier again (i had a bad intestinal/bowel disorder).

How i got into it? I had some dumbells but didnt really know what to do with them, but i had a Teacher who was a really big guy (18" arms, he looked like a powerlifter) and he showed me a few programs. Me and a friend used to stay behind after class and talk with him about lifting and bodybuilders and stuff. He got me real into it, cos he was a totally "take no shit" kinda guy, that was the attitude i needed at the time.

I was scrawny and weak. I wanted to look better and feel stronger. Mission acccomplished. I've been working out for over 10 years now.

I really have no interest in weight training at all. Why should I? I'm naturally muscular, 230lbs.,5%BF, and well endowed. I usually just go to the gym to talk on my cell phone, or to tie up stations and machines. I like to eat twinkies in the gym, and on ocassion I'll take a beer or two, sit on the bench next to small guys and make fun of them. "Come on, tinkerbell! Its just the bar!! Its just the bar!!" Sometimes I make very very loud grunting noises while doing something like tying my shoe, or lifting a 5lb. plate off of the rack, then I'll laugh hysterically and point at the people who are staring at me. I also like to test the fashion tolerance of people in the gym. Most of the time, I'll wear a muscle shirt that says something like "Buff Sho 'Nuf" or "Adrenaline Junkie", bermuda shorts, and really bulky work boots with thick socks that I pull up over my knees. Other times I like to wear Richard Simmons running shorts, a wife beater that is too small, and a colorful headband, and try to get people in the weight room involved in the aerobics class that I'm really not leading. But for the most part, I go to the gym to fight crime.
