Yes it has and it sucks

Mostly gas. I'm spending more on food too, but only by like 5$ at the most I think.

Same here. Gas is where it hurts most. I don't feel it as much at the grocery store, but obvious changes are noticable (such as milk prices going up). I am still getting the same price on chicken breasts (my main source of protein) as I did three years ago ($1.99/lb when it's on sale, and I freeze them and buy in bulk). However, supplement prices seem to have gone up a bit (specifically for whey protein); it's a good thing I never really used much of them.

On the flipside, it seems to be easier to get good deals on nice clothing lately.

Ya commodities(fuels, food etc) seem to be the rising cost, luxuries are declining or offering fat incentives to spur on spending to help the economy.

I opted for "no."

Yeah, it's a bit more expensive at the pump, but by how much? I spend maybe $40 or so more a month that I did a year ago. That's the amount that I'd blow on two low-priced lunch dates.

I'm sure that my grocery bill has gone up, but not enough for me to spout a Keanu Reeves, "Whoa!"

I'm certainly not well-to-do, but I also don't live low enough down the economic totem pole to really be hurt by any of that. Hell, I'm technically unemployed.

Yes it has. Lately I seem to have too much month left at the end of my money.

It hasn't affected me really yet. I'm still doing the same stuff i've always been doing (which is school, work, lifting and sitting around lol). The only way its changed things is that now i'm gonna be much more practical in the car i'm going to finance when i finally start my career. I don't know if that is because of gas or just because i realized i don't need a "pimped out whip." I'll still go Euro but i'm thinking smaller engine and reliability now instead of speed.

Of all of my friends who are complaining about everything, i can't think of a single one of them who hasn't made a fiscally irresponsible decision in the past month that hasn't contributed to the problem. A friend of mine once told me that if a $50 or less a week cost increase puts you in the red, you seriously need to re-examine your lifestyle. As long as you continue to make modifications you will be fine. If you haven't made modifications based on everything that has happened over the past year, you deserve to be in the shitter. This whole shit storm we are in is because people made horrible decisions, businesses for lending money, and people for taking money they couldn't afford to pay back. The response to this problem has been to make more money and make it cheaper to get. IMO, this problem will be with us for a while, until people across the board start making smart decisions, so don't hold your breath.

That's not true! I'm quite practical. I run over the Mexicans with my Hummer, I don't waste gas by pouring it.

I hate the idea of a real estate bail out. Some dumb ass people make bad investment, or just a basic fiscal decision, and I have to pay for it? Hell no. Let 'em rot.

Everything that relates to the restaurant biz has been effected by gas prices. Food costs, distribution costs, everything. Trouble is, while it is usually logical to pass costs/increases along to your customers, or at least a percentage, it is very hard to do when the customer is in a poor financial state as well.

I don't really pay attention to it either way really...

Yeah, I hear that. I am against any gov't bail outs wrt homeowners or the financials. The whole point of capitalism is accountability, and this goes against the very essence of accountability.

I don't even notice a recession or inflation. I spend $10.00 more a week on gas, and food is about them same.

I'm only 22 going on 23 but feel like an old man. There's this girl from school who i know who turned 21 not too long ago. She keeps saying lets go out, where do you wanna go? She's all excited, telling me about all these clubs she hits on the weekends. I thought about it for a second and said, I've been doing that almost 7 years, i'm sick of it already. Let's just do dinner. She looked at me all weird. Before anyone talks shit that i passed up on ass, i have a girlfriend and the two girls know each other so it was more of a just hanging out type of thing not dirty monkey sex going out.

Yes... I drive an old 93 V6 Camaro and I get about 12-14mpg since pretty much everywhere I drive is less than 5 miles from where I live. I'm trying to save up for a bike over the summer, and just use a car when weather's bad or I have longer distance driving to do.

I bought this place when it had sixteen seats, moved it here..now we have close to eighty. Even though rent, utilities, eveything was 5 times what I paid before, I absorbed costs for the first year for fear of losing customers. Tough lesson to learn, but I have to pass it on....just part of being in business.
