Buy a car, get a gun!

    Now that's creative marketing:

Dealer Offers Free Gun With Car Purchase

BUTLER, Mo. -- A local car dealer is holding a controversial promotion involving guns.

Max Motors in Butler is offering anyone who buys a car the choice of $250 in gas or a free semi-automatic handgun.

Dealer Offers Free Gun With Car Purchase - Kansas City News Story - KMBC Kansas City

There's also a poll there to hit, At 65% pro right now.

I heard this guy on the radio, and when asked what he thought of some who might object, he said "around here we drive American cars, carry guns, and go to church."

Now that's some brass balls right there!

And no, I don't drive an American car or go to church....

The article is BS. A car dealership isn't an FFL-so they'd be violating a federal law. They'd be shut down in a day if that happened.

No, it's not. Try a little more research. I heard the dealer interviewed on NPR radio, it's all over the news, etc.

Again, perhaps research/read prior to making such comments:

"Moore said the dealership will hand the customer a certificate to get the gun, but you must pass a background check."

    and

"The local police chief said he is OK with the promotion as long as the weapons aren't handed out at the dealership."

Thus, dealership is not acting as an FFL, etc.

I would to. Gas is dangerous, you could set something on fire.

So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

There are a million things on news and television that are BS. A car dealership isn't an FFL, do you even know what that is? They can't issue background checks for firearms, nor can the sell them at their location. Giving someone a coupon for a gun store is the same thing as giving them a gift certificate. The dealership is 'giving' people guns, and they aren't selling them. So I don't see how the article is accurate in any way shape or form. Last but not least, $250 isn't enough to buy a new handgun.

True, and ths is not one of those things. Bother to research it yet? Here's there web site:

Max Motors New and Used Car Dealer - Buy a Car and get a Gun or Gas - Butler Missouri

    Already explained above.

Already explained above. Repeating yourself does not change anything. We have already established the dealership is not acting as an FFL nor do they need to.

The article is accurate, it's your reading comprehension that seems to suck. "Customers can choose between a gun or a $250 (£125) gas card, but most so far have chosen the gun."

    From the BBC:

BBC NEWS | Americas | US car dealer in free gun offer

    NBC news:

Car Dealer Includes Free Gun With SUVs - Local News Story - WCAU | Philadelphia

    etc, etc.

You still don't seem to get it. READ THE HEADLINES. The ad is spun in a way to make it sound like if you purchase a car, you walk off the lot with a car and a handgun in your vehicle, which is not the case. They're giving gift certificates to stores. The headlines are worded that way to convince liberals that this dealership is including guns in their cars and people are driving off the lot with them, which is completely false.

We are talking about MO here....they can carry...There is nothing wrong with driving an American car, carrying a gun, or going to church. If more of us were that simple mided the world would be a better place to live. I live in Chicago and people here for the most part are cold and fake...in MO I experienced nice people that you see what you get. They are willing to help someone in need without expecting something in return...they spank their children....just honest hard working people trying to make the best of life.

No, your brain spun it that way, the headline is correct (you get a gun if you buy a car from them) and YOU decided the headline meant you were handed a gun and you walked out of the dealership with it, which was covered repeatedly above, and you ignored.

For a gun yes. Is this complicated for you? It's not rocket science son.

And if said liberals take all of 2 seconds to read the article, they will see that's not the case. It's also irrelevant, as the result is the same and said liberals are not going to be happy about it, some of whom are quoted in the news reports.

Do you know how media works? They use headlines to get points across -not articles. I read the article, but most people don't. They can get away with twisting the headlines around because they know that headlines are the only thing that most people read. They don't want to get sued, so they print the facts, or close to the facts in the actual article. The headlines are false, misleading, and will be blow out of proportion by most people.

Exactly, and "buy car, get certificate to get a gun after background check and from a proper FFL" is not a headline that will attract readers.

Such is life in modern society. Your point however is moot in this thread an conversation as already explained I don't know how many times now. The headlines were in fact totally accurate in fact, but readers will learn no guns are actually handed out at the dealership. Again, that's the media and life. Now, it's totally true the media has many times put up totally misleading and or false headlines that were totally wrong, and I don't disagree at all on that count, but this simply is not one of those times. Deal with it.

Proof you really don't know much about the media. In most cases, the media does not give a crap what the facts are and pay little attention to them...

People can do or think what ever they want, but the headlines are indeed true. Buy a car from the guy, and get a gun, period.

But is the certificate only for a gun or can I buy anything in the gun shop? The one down the street from me has surveillance equipment too like tiny wireless CCD cameras and other little spy gadgets maybe the store there has that stuff too......

But like Bulk said get the gun and steal gas once it gets to $10 a gallon....

and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear

no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
