Do I need to check out any of these places?: Shedd Aquarium, Art Institue of Chicago, Grant Park, Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, Union Station, Michigan Avenue Bridge, Chicago Theatre, Chinatown..?
I'll be going to Chicago for this weekend with a friend and don't have any firm plans for what to do during the day (I was supposed to be someone's date for a wedding, but I decided not to go to it). I also do not have any firm plans for Sunday night.
I will be staying a few miles from O'Hare International Airport, and will be going to a nightclub that is near Lincoln Park tonight. What else should I do?
Navy Pier? Millenium Park? Boat tour? Where should I eat?

You should have sex with fat girls.

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
Dude. . .you are way in luck this weekend. You can get soxmuscle to take ya to the big annual IML celebration. IML is like the International Mr. Leather competition, or. . .the International Min0Lee Contest. . ..
Or you can like learn how to properly get your boots shined:
you can see Min0 getting hers done by one of her slaves
Or hang out with Master Ryker

We ended up going to Millenium Park, and were around Michigan Ave and Lakeshore most of today. We're drinking right now and will be heading to The Republic tonight to meet up with some ladies. Stop by if you're around, Sox.
Most of those places are over priced tourist traps...go to Wrigley field and catch the cubs. Thats the social beating hear of Chicago...then stop by a "locals only" bar named the Dark Horse (on Clark and Sheffield 1 residential block from the ball park). I used to live across the street![]()
Thanks, I literally just got back into town and had a great weekend in Chicago.
The Republic was not bad, but the atmosphere wasn't as happening as The Level (where we went to last night). Unfortunately, The Level was far more expensive (easily double).
I would have loved to have met up with you guys yesterday and hit up that boat; I was actually at Navy Pier for the most of the day.
I spent today with a friend who lives in Wheaton. We went to Naperville and checked out the River Walk and ate at Giodanno's (?) [it's a pizza place that she suggested]. It was a great way to end the trip.
We were actually going to go to Wrigleyville before going to The Level last night, but we got horrible service at the restaurant we ate at and it kept us there at least an hour longer than we had expected (so Wrigleyville was closed by then). I will definitely make it there next time I am in town (which might be in about a month). How would you describe Dark Horse?
The only problem with some of these places is that I sometimes won't have much say in where to go, depending on who I am hanging out with. This weekend I went to visit several different friends, and most of the girls were club rats, so we ended up at those type of places.
Has anyone heard of the Signature Lounge? I was supposed to end up there yesterday, but decided to go with a different group.
Thanks for all your suggestions guys, and for the open invitation to hang out Sox.

I've been to one Chicago club and hated every second that I was there. A small bottle of Grey Goose cost $300 dollars which is ridiculous, the amount of gel in people's hair was equally as absurd, and the fact that one of my friends wasn't allowed in because he had sneakers on was just icing on the cake.
Bars in Wrigleyville/Lincoln Park are the place to be as far as I'm concerned.
The boat was fun; obviously the weathermen got our hopes up hyping this weekends weather for the last two weeks, but surprisingly the rain stopped and the sun snuck out of the clouds for a couple of hours giving us more than enough time to enjoy ourselves.
Wheaton, Naperville... ha, we used to beat up on those towns high school sports teams..
Giordanno's is a good pizza place, I just don't normally eat pizza. What'd you think of it?
The Signature Lounge, being the elegant place at the top of the Cock (John Hancock building) where you can sip on overpriced drinks, act all proper and not have a good time?
When you come back in a month, let me know. For whatever reason, my friends and I are going to the city more frequently this summer than in summers past, so we could surely meet up for a drink or ten.![]()
Yeah, I was kind of annoyed by how expensive things everything was at The Level. I easily spent over $100 there, and I had at least six drinks before going. The dress code doesn't bother me, since I'm told a lot of the clubs have them (and I like to dress nice when going out anyway). Some clubs get really strict. I was in Orlando last year (Club Roxy, I believe) and one of the guys we were with wasn't allowed in because his dress shoes were too casual (I didn't think they were that different from mine, except that mine were shinier). I didn't really get it.
The weather was very nice, considering we had expected it to thunderstorm most of Sunday.
Giordanno's was excellent. I started with one of their soup bowls (creamy potatoe?) and it was pretty filling and definitely worth the $3-some it ran. Their mozzerella sticks weren't anything special, but I thought the pizza rocked (took a bit long, considering the menu said 35 minutes and there weren't that many people there). I had expected everything to be more expensive, but found that it was all very reasonably priced. I highly recommend Giordanno's (I just had some leftovers for lunch today and it tasted just as good).
We decided not to meet up with the group at the Signature Lounge for pretty much the same reason you had mentioned. I was forewarned the drinks were going to be in the $20 range, so I automatically labelled it as a place I wasn't going to be able to get sloppy at. Plus the group I would have been meeting up with were mostly snobs I didn't know from L.A. and Boston, so I pretty much figured the table talk would be lame.
I will definitely let you know if I decide to come back. I had a great time, so I don't see why I wouldn't, though I didn't expect to spend anywhere near as much as I had (so it may be later than a month). If anything, I may come back for a wedding in August. I think next time around, I'll be spending most of the time in the Wrigleyfield / Lincoln Park area since I would likely be going to see a friend who lives around there that I didn't get to see this time.
