Very smart man! I'm an insurance broker in S Fla. Currently my policy is with AIG. Every six months I re-rate my policy to see who's best.

Most people run to the large companies like State Farm, Allstate, Geico, etc. This limits you to only their rate. Call a broker and they might be able to get a better rate for you. Just make sure you're being placed with an A rated company.

Never, ever use the insurance that a car dealership provides.

sure, I sold my lincon town car and now I drive a 98 grand marquis. I got this car for a good price and just installed a system on it and some 20's to resell the car. I dont plan on driving this car for long so the owner of a insurance company (a good friend of my dad before he left) put me on the system as Im under his insurance but for real I'm not. He explained to me that if I was in a car accident and it was their fault to show my insurance card and everything is fine. But if I was the cause of the accident my insurance is no good.(obviously, because im not paying anything for my insurance) Of course once I resell this car and buy my 07 Nissan Altima I plan on getting some legit insurance on it.

I have used State Farm for 13 years. In that time, I've totaled two cars, one my own the other another driver's car, and my rate never went up. Each time that I totaled a car, it was taken care of with two phone calls.

I also had a radio stolen out of my car. Three phone calls later, one to my insurance, one to a window replacement company, and one to a stereo installer, it was all taken care of. My car was broken into around 10AM, by 3 PM both the window and the radio were replaced.

    State Farm FTW!

Dealerships are not looking to save you money, they will sell their own mother if they could.
I insured a car through the dealership not knowing any better, they charged me an outrageous amount for the brokerage fee.
If my memory serves me right they charged me $300.00 when the max should have been $35.00....this was 1994.

Geico. But we make a special effort to shop around at least once every six months.

For the record, I do not like Cavemen.....this is one of the dumbest marketing efforts I have ever seen.

    FAWK...

I had state farm for seven years with no problems...
I got a speeding ticket from one of those robotic camera traps...

Within two months I get a letter saying my rate was going up.
Then a letter like five days after that saying they dropped me,
and I could look for a new provider.

I've gone w/esurance to replace them

Actually just dealt w/the Esurance folks to do a more tricky policy split/renew,
and added my new economy car.

They were great! 24/7 service to do anything...
And I found their website rocks too!
