Why are you voting for who you are coting for?

Just wondering the primary reasons someone is voting for whomever in the forthcoming election. Let's give 2 reasons...

1)Fucked economy, and the only things McCain has proposed don't benefit me and appear to be quick fixes (Cutting gas tax will only lead to higher demand and less tax revenue, cutting taxes on businesses isn't really going to do anything save for widening the gap between me and the rich, etc.)

2)Iraq is a losing battle, and my cheap oil that is supposed to come from my taxes going over there isn't materializing.

Now, I am not 100% sold on Obama, actually, some of the policies McCain has put forth seem to have been only to pander to the GOP base during the primaries. Right now, I am about 75% Obama, but that is a soft 75%, once the debates roll around and I have an idea where both firmly stand on certain issues I will have made my decision. I honestly just don't want 4 more years of the same, and until McCain proves that is not what he wants, I am for Obama. Obviously, everything done over the last 8 years hasn't worked.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

my decision is based solely on the type of indidvidual each will place on the supreme court. I don't think the president does shit for the economy. I'm most worried about the US Supreme Court starting to legislate from the bench. the last thing we need is a 6-5 split from a court dictating to us something that should be voted on like has happened in massachusetts and california.

How, exactly, were those two state courts legislating from the bench? And don't you think that little fiasco involving Terri Schiavo, in which conservatives ran all over the place trying to force a state divorce without the consent of the participants, was legislating from the bench?

Since I suspect you are referring to same-sex "marriage" in Massachusetts and California, do you know the last time the "people" voted on ANY marriage law for ANYONE?

I'm not voting for a Republican for anything this year.

    1) Fucked up economy, fucked up foreign policy, fucked up military, fucked up infrastructure, fucked up emergency handling, fucked up civil rights, fucked up mixing of conservative-only religion with the state, fucked up stacking of the courts with ideologues and fucked up bailing out of corporations and beholden to lobbyists.

    2) McSame hasn't had a life that indicates a moral compass beyond personal gain.

Obama wasn't my first choice, but that clown car put forward by Republicans made all of them my last choice.

ok fucktards. for all of you ass holes out there who decided to get your panties in a bunch about my post without understanding it. I feel marriage is a state issue and should be determined on a state basis through legistlation. regardless of the outcome. if the people choose to allow gay marriage then it was handled as a representative government should be. we should not be dictated to from a small group of non elected individuals. that is not the supreme courts job.

Well, fucktard. The legislature of the state of California TWICE passed same-sex marriage legislation only to have it vetoed by Governor Ahnold. And in his vetoes, the governor said that the Supreme Court should decide the issue.

In Massachusetts, the state legislature failed to approve the constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage on the second vote. So the people's representatives had their say.

The court is supposed to resolve constitutional issues about legislation, and that is designed to protect the rights of ALL citizens from the tyranny of the majority. If that mechanism is overturned, a whole lot of people could be denied civil rights - like amendments could be passed preventing Republicans from marriage.

Now when the hell are all the people gonna get a chance to vote on everyone else's marriage? I've got a long list of people whose character is so flawed they should have never been allowed to utter vows. . .starting with adulterer John McSame.

I'm tired of "greedy and evil". I am voting for "stupid and incompetent" this year. I just can't handle "greedy and evil" for 12 years straight.

basically we've had evil and greedy with the a stupid and incompetant spokesperson. Like the Family Guy episode where the evil cigarette company hired Peter to be president of the company.

I will confess, I voted Bush last time. I am damn sick and tired of the bs we have endured over the last 4 years. People defend him saying "he cant fix these issues". I voted for the person who was supposed to "fix these issues" or stop them from happening. Look at the mess our country is in under his guidance. I make descent money and wonder how poor people truly just survive. It seems as if all I can do is wait for people to start starving to death because they cant drive to work or are out of work and hope it happens soon enough that I'm not among them and someone steps up and demands change. Obama seems an uncertainty but McCain appears to me to be George Bush the third. I wish the republican party would just give me a reason to belive in them before it's to late.
