    Drill Here Drill Now?

Should we drill now and put the more of the money we spend on oil in the pockets of Americans, rather than foreign nations, such as Venezuela, and nations of the Middle East.

Yes fuel prices are ridiculous and its time to pass the dollar bill back and forth between our shore lines. It seems people are having it bad and we as a nation have to make a change for now, seems our leaders dont have enough clout to do anything about it.Its a shame that the middle east controls our economy and they are proving it. After all I dont see anyone doing anything about it.

Watching Bush beg the Saudis to pump more oil made me want to puke, we have tons here, and TRILLIONS of barrels in oil shale in the rockies which we need to be developing extraction/processing techniques for.

My business likes high oil prices, besides how much cheaper do you think harder to extract oil is going to be and how long can we feed this habit before it destroys us.....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I had heard it was profitable @ $80/barrel, but I think there is a moratorium on exploration of oil shale slipped into a bill years ago, unfortunately.

I want the habit to be broken as well, I also want affordable gasoline, which affects prices of virtually everything while we're developing the solution. The next source of power for transportation isn't going to be here for awhile, so something needs to be done now so I don't have to watch our President go beg some muslim thugs to pump so commodity prices will go down. I'd rather have the President give them the finger and tell them where they can stick it.

I think we'll just be moving towards more and more electrically powered vehicles (Chevy just greenlighted the Volt Chevrolet Volt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), but we still need a secure oil supply long into the futre for our freight trucks, diesel trains, military equipment, and airplanes.

Where's the option to drill here and bomb there?
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

Drilling oil won't impact Mexico's economy. They don't have one.

If we started construction today, we would be drilling in 5 years. We need to find viable alternative energies, not rely on outdated methodologies.

Maybe start with "OK, we have a fucking lot of <insert resource here> in the United States, how can we turn this into energy?"

Sun power. There is enough solar power to fill our needs for the rest of our lifes and our children's and our children's children's lifes. Chevy also has a car thats completely electric but its still a concept, I thinks a few other company's do to. But when Exxon mobile is the richest company in the US its hard for things like electric or solar powered cars to hit it off main stream.

Nuclear power. 80% of France is powered by nucler generated energy. We screwed ourselves 30 years ago by passing a law forbidding the building of new nuclear power plants and also making it illegal to recycle the spent fuel rods. Yes, spent fuel rods can be recycled and we passed a law making it illegal. Fucking idiots in Washington are going to guarantee this country goes to Hell in a handbasket.
Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???
