Poll: Americans Concerned McCain Will Be Too Much Like Bush

Poll: Americans Concerned McCain Will Be Too Much Like Bush - America’s Election HQ

As John McCain barnstorms from state to state making his case for the presidency, one obstacle the Arizona senator will be forced to confront if he is to win the White House is voters’ concerns that his policies are too similar to those of President Bush.

According to a recent USA Today/Gallup poll, two in three Americans are worried that McCain will pursue policies that mirror those implemented by Bush. Just about half of those who participated in the survey — 49 percent — said they are “very concerned” that McCain will follow Bush’s initiatives.

McCain must walk a fine line in distancing himself from the president — whose approval ratings are at an all time low — since Bush remains relatively popular among Republican voters. While only 28 percent of Americans approve of the job Bush has done as president, 60 percent of Republicans do, the poll found.

    Yes,

one of the strategies for those opposing McCain is to link him more with GWB.

McCain is a neo-con, IMO. He's also made a lot of foreign policy statement I don't like. (just MO.)

    Also, he's made many gaffs.

I am not saying McCain is dumb, but he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, either.

That is what I'm worried about. 8 years ago I was ready to vote for McCain, now his policies and ideas have changed drastically. I don't know what Obama's policies will do, and that sucks, but I do know what won't work, and that is what we have done for the last 8 years.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Change sounds much better than Stay the Course...
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

The war is wrapping up, despite the liberals' wishes. The more clear it becomes that the war is ending regardless of who wins in 08, the smaller Obama's chances are. Once that becomes clear, people are simply going to be choosing between high taxes or low taxes.

I don't like McCain, but he is no Bush. He is much more fiscally responsible.

Clemson the so-called liberals want the war wrapped up. They've been advocating for the US to leave for years.

You seem to be pigeon-holing a lot.

You use the the term "liberal," but there only a handful of "liberals" in the entire Congress, which is made up of 435 reps.

Taxes? It's not about hight or low taxes.

It's about high taxes, and high taxes.

"low taxes" ended in America at about 1900.

If we attack anyone how about Saudi Arabia, one of the major sources of Al-Qaida terrorists?

Oh that's right, they're more than willing to sell us their oil and keep it priced in dollars.

Two points to address on your above comments Hoglander:

    1. It is not 100% that Bush will have us "fighting in Iran military," or attacking at all.

    2. If Bush attack Iran, it will be with surgical strikes to knock out and disable nuclear-making facilities.

2b) The American military will not, and cannot enter Iran.

And for the sake of argument, let's say GWB does actually use surgical strikes against Iran, say, after the election but before the next Inauguaration on Jan., 20, 09, it won't matter who is President.

These surgical strikes will be fairly quick. They'll last less than 5-7 days, IMO.

    Also:

Iran can easily shut off the Straight of Hormuz, and therefore cut off the oil supply, and the tanker coming in empty and leaving full. The US would have to use its Navy to keep it open.

Iran has the Shihab-3 missle which has pin-point accuracy. They can fire these at US Navy ships, American FOBs and bases in Iraq, and they can reach Israel.

Iran has people monitoring the situation 24/7, with people sitting, with their finger on the fire button.

There will be retaliation, and there will be consequences.

If the US attacks, it will be after the election, and before the inaugeration, IMO.
