    Guitars

So I got that new bass yesterday. Fucking nice. It's an Ibanez, and was only about $160.

I'm also refinishing my first guitar. This is the one from the last pics I put up in my photo thread.

I'm going to repaint it, white with black bats on it. Any suggestions on what I should use for paint?

Use spray paint, apply a primer first. For the bats use tape or sticker material and press it firmly on so that paint can't leak underneath. Most guitars have 5-8 coats on them for each color so do several coats for the base color and then several for the secondary color. There are websites which have lots of tips on doing this. I was at one time contemplating stripping my guitar down to wood, making a lion stencil out of thick industrial aluminum foil and using a propane torch to burn the pattern into the wood and then staining the wood and clear coating it....I'll probably get around to doing it after I get this Home Equity Loan stuff sorted out....

no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

They also have those textured spray paints now with hammered look to them, I was planning on doing my amp in hammered bronze Rust-o-leum....I bet that would make an awesome finish for a bass guitar....

Give it a good sand down and apply varnish. THe 'natural' wood look, goes well on guitars.

So talented. And on one so young, too - that top pic, the contrast against the grass - great shot.

Nice that your nails match the axe - shows you pay attention to detail

Ibanez have such amazing harmonics. Have fun with it.

Yea, I was going to use spray paint but wasn't sure if there would be any regrets about it later.
    Thanks.

Lol that was actually a coincidence, but thanks for pointing it out .

I'll be sure to post more progress pics later.

Yeah, dont paint over the marks.

Its those marks which give the guitar its character, so it doesnt look like its just come off the assembly line.

Ive had my acoustic for about 7 years now and i can remember how it got every single mark on it.

I thought about that, but to me a wood finish just says acoustic. You need a loud look for a loud guitar.
