why is it so hard to find hollow points?
went to one of the local gun stores today. they had no freaking hollow points for my 45's. picked up last two boxes they had of hydrashock, and another fun hollow point
. i couldnt believe how low there stock of really every thing was. normaly they have a very wide selection of ammo. oh the three boxes i got today were for my nine's.
i bet in the world you live in every one is a pony, eats rainbows, and craps butterflys.

Is that the house of the guy in florida who died? He was "big" news to a lot of liberal outlets for having 2000+ guns

You must have just had the bad luck of going to a place that was running low at the time. Every seller of handgun ammunition in my area sells hollow points in at least 3 different brands.
My question is why do you need 2 boxes of hollow points? I keep a clip full of hollow points for when I am carrying just in case I have to shot someone or something, but I practice shoot with cheap 9mm Winchester. The stuff is like $4.00 for a box of 50. I am very happy that I have never had to fire a hollow point. I have seen others waste money shooting expensive ammo for no reason other than to see what it does to a stump, tree, ect. It seems a little foolish to me. |

Excuse my ignorance.... but why would you need a hollow tip?
Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

simple really yes you want to know how a gun is going to handle when using +p, and jhp hollow points. you have to get used to it. as for home defence i prefer hollow points or a nice flat tip. either one tears through your target very nicely. as for why you would want more you never know when they will quit selling them. i would prefer to have a nice stock. i am one of those people that assumes with the way things are going some thing bad will happen. i would rather be able to fend off a attacker/attackers for a long period of time. always best to be prepared. for plinking a cheap shell is fine, but for personal protection best stopping power is what you want. 9mm dont have the best stopping power but a better shell is going to help with the job. i prefer 9mm's due to the lack of recoil. i also choose to stock a few larger callibers if needed.
hope that answers the questions.

They are more accurate, and have much more stopping power. Hollow point bullets expand and loses their casings on contact. It rarely ricochets or penetrates an object which lessens the possibility of hitting anyone other than the target. You could shoot someone with a full metal jacket, and the bullet could go through them and hit a bystander. When hollow points hit, it is more like a small bomb going off in the person you shoot. The hollow-points are more likely to cripple or kill the person you shoot, where as a full metal jacketed bullet might give your opponent a chance to shoot you even after being shot.

Your answer to why people prefer hollow points is that some Americans are afraid they will have to fight off a militia. That makes no sense. Sure, there are many people who are waiting for some sort of revolution or uprising. I have never met anyone who is preparing for war, but I am certain they exist and they are a small minority within the community of gun owners. I do know people who carry guns for protection, and the bullet that offers the most protection is a hollow point. |
