Look this is serious, I think we should have a discussion how some people are still so ignorant and live like its the slave days still. It wasnt that long ago that blacks use to have to use different watering hole.

DOMS you and I cant understand the sensitivity of racial issues because we were fortunate to be born white.

That's the kind of logic that has led us to the point where it's okay to gloss over "black leaders" saying racist shit all of the time, but it's a fucking travesty when someone puts up a picture that someone spent a minute putting together.

IMO, it is unfortunate that the kids had to see that, but shit like that goes on every day. Kids with harelips and shit are taunted on a daily basis, and the press seems to gloss over that. Kids are little fuckers, what are you going to do?

Add this to the "oevr-the-top" dumb list.


Okay, so let's see....

1.) The man shown on the sign was BLACK, well dressed, and in a position of authority...he's the guy issuing the statement.

2.) The language on the sign said, "POOL'S CLOSED" It didn't say anything even remotely close to "whites only" or "No Blacks in Pool".

3.) Most importantly.....LISTEN CLOSELY to the way this woman referred to her Grandchildren. She called theM HALF-BLACK......Not Bi-Racial, but HALF-BLACK. Sounds like Grandma is either a little uncomfortable with this fact, or she is playing this card to get attention for reasons unknown.

I think the whole thing is yet another over-reaction by someone who's insecurities are getting in the way of their judgement.

If people want the wound of racism to heal, then they need to quit picking at the scabs.

It is very obvious that it is implying the pool is closed to blacks or because blacks infected it. DOMS I can whip up a racist sign in 30 secs that offends 1000s of people, how the fact that its a sign someone spent one minute on make a difference? Again you were lucky enough to be born white so you can never understand growing up colored in our white society.

Big deal... More racist things are said on this site every day about Mexicans, Blacks, Asians and Whites.

This site never makes the news for it. I too am amazed this is news.

Many (not all, mind you) black people continue to play this victim card over and over....I'm getting tired of it.

The news article started by saying, "African American kids banned from a swimming pool? Tonight a grandmother stands up for their rights... blah, blah, blah."

I was expecting so much more. Nobody was banned from the pool. With the article starting that way, I was expecting a public pool where the owner was not letting black kids in. Nobody was denied their rights. Someone posted a sign that was quickly taken down... and then she gave it to the cops? What the hell are they going to with it? No crime was commited. This should not be news.

I love how this has to be mentioned every time a person makes a point so they dont get charged with stereotyping.

No, really. I have no need to cover my ass when talking about this issue.

In fact, I get just as disgusted with the white trash I see around here.

I have had great friends, teachers and mentors that were black. I have no problem with Black folks in general.

The problem I do have is with those people of color...black brown, who cares... who are unmotivated, uneducated (by choice) or otherwise riding the coat tails of some extremist dip wad political leader who wants to maintain the "we're being kept down by [someone else]" mentality.
