Obama holds Gallup poll lead
Obama holds Gallup poll lead - UPI.com
PRINCETON, N.J., July 20 (UPI) -- Presumptive Democratic U.S. presidential nominee Barack Obama holds a slim lead over his likely Republican opponent, the latest Gallup poll indicates. A daily tracking poll released Saturday by the Gallup Organization of Princeton, N.J., indicated U.S. Sen. Obama, D-Ill., led U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., 45 percent to 43 percent. Obama's showing was the second straight day his support level was below 46 percent after 18 consecutive days at or above that mark, the pollsters said. Obama embarked on a major overseas trip to Afghanistan, Iraq, the Middle East and Europe Saturday, which promises to give him extensive media coverage. Gallup analysts predicted the trip could help Obama rebound to above the 46 percent mark in the coming days. The poll results were based on interviews with 2,657 registered voters conducted July 16-18. The maximum margin of sampling error is 2 percentage points, Gallup said. |

National polling can be inconclusive because of the Electoral College.
Gore got more popular votes in 2000. The states do matter, especially some of the battlground states with moderate to high electoral delegates. I think it may be a very close election. We'll have to wait and see. 14 weeks to go, eh?

Bad news for Obama. Gore and Kerry each had double digit leads at this time.

Of course state electoral votes win elections, not national polls.

^^ Yeah, polling fluctuates, and 14 weeks can be a long time if the Center is willing to switch back and forth. I don't know how many voters have 100% committed to voting for one candidate as opposed to those who could vote either way. Probably polling on this somehwere....but then again....it's polling with 14 weeks away. I think it will be close.

![]() This could be just as bad as the terrorist fist jab! ![]() The Rep. machine would be better off attacking his policies. Obama’s daughters huge Jonas Brothers fans. Keffiyeh Koincidence? July 17th, 2008 . by Marty OK, I hope we’re not reading too much into this, but in the course of responding to media requests regarding the Jonas Brothers keffiyeh controversy, one of my interns alerted me to a story in the Indian press that revealed that Barack Obama’s daughters are big fans of the keffiyeh-wearing Jonas Brothers. All I can say is, “Oy.†Now, I’m not one of those McCain supporters who believes in perpetuating ugly innuendos about Barack Obama’s faith or even his middle name. I believe Senator McCain can win in November fair and square. But…. First Meghan McCain wears a few mis-chosen keffiyehs, and next the Obama girls will be spotted wearing Che Guevara t-shirts. At this rate, it may not matter who wins the election: the Jonas Brothers will play the inaugural ball, Miley Cyrus will be showering in the Lincoln bedroom and Chief Justice Roberts will terror-fist bump whoever he swears in over the Koran. Makes me wish for the days when the Beatles were the biggest threat to national security. |
