Gustav looks like it is going to fuck some shit up.
I have watched 5 major hurricanes from the gulf coast. This one looks like one of the strongest I have seen in a while. It will be an F5 when it hits landfall.
I missed good opportunities in the past to get some good video or images. This year I will be prepared. One side of me hopes the damage is minimal and that nobody loses their life, but another side of my hopes it turns more north east and hits Mobile, AL dead on. I love hurricanes. Well, I just love crazy weather.

Gustav is freaking huge! We've been seeing rain bands from it here in Orlando kicking up random tornado warnings and it is about 500 miles away!
We've been saying it'll hit near New Orleans for about 5 days now, so I have absolutely no sympathy for those who choose not to evacuate. I also had no such sympathy during Katrina for the same reason (stupid people do stupid things and being poor has nothing to do with it). If you want to be certain you will live through this, get out of the city!
Really, why rebuild cities that are below sea level? Most of the areas that flooded here in Florida after Fay were flood plains, so the morale is - don't build your big beautiful houses in flood zones
