Members of the Hells Angels. The San Francisco branch particularly has a history of clashes with the law.
Mark "Papa" Guardado, leader of the Hells Angels in San Francisco, was shot down on a city street there Tuesday night.
Guardado was found with gunshot wounds about 10:30 pm about a mile from the group's clubhouse, according to CBS5 TV in San Francisco.
Witnesses told investigators the gang leader and the gunman struggled before the shooting, and that the suspect fled on a motorcycle, according to reports.
Guardado was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and died shortly afterwards.
The biker had been involved in an ongoing fight with a rival from another motorcycle group before he was killed, according to the Associated Press.
The San Francisco Police Department is investigating the slaying. No arrests have been made.
"It is an open and active investigation at this point," says San Francisco Police Department Sgt. Wilfred Williams.
"There was a description of a suspect fleeing the scene, and though we have no strong leads right now, we are dealing with what we have and continuing to follow it."
The 45-year-old Guardado was reputedly the president of the half-century old branch of the infamous motorcycle club, which has been a particular target of criminal investigations, according to reports.
The San Francisco Hells Angels could not be reached for comment.

First they call him a gang leader, then say another motorcycle group and then end with motorcycle club. Please the Hell's Angels are a gang no matter what anyone says. A motorcycle "club" is a bunch of baby boomers trying to revive their youth by dressing like tough guys and riding bikes which they wished they had done in the 60's instead of being dainty hippies..
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

LMAO my neighbor is 53 and just sold his drag car and got into bikes. I saw him leave the other day with a cutoff on and a bandanna. The funny part, he's about 150 soaking wet, trying to look like a tough guy. You're exactly right.
