How can I save a PNG image onto my computer?

Every time I try to save a .png image from the internet the file gets warped into a tiny speck and I can't view it. I've tried converting it to jpeg (which I want to do with it anyway) but nothing happens, and I've tried various programs to view it but it's always the same despite the program. I've also just tried saving it as a different format (.bmap) but same problem. The only option I have so far is to Print Page, paste in Paint, and crop the image I want, but that's a lot of work and especially so for big images. Is there another way around it?

Which browser are you saving it with? Have you tried saving PNGs from other sources or just one source? It could be that when they put the PNG's on the website it was corrupted. Also try DL'ing irfanview and Gimp in the latest version and see then if you can open them using one of them......

I started a screen by screen of what happens to show the process and resulting nonimage, but I found out that it only happens on certain sites; when I save them they save as Blank.png and they won't save on the comp for some reason. It turns out it's not such a big deal, as most sites I can save them. It's just that it happened one site I visited and I figured it was the same for all of them. It's still a pain, but now I don't have to sigh every time I see a .png that I want to keep.

Sounds like they might be using a transparent image or something over a good image to prevent people saving or stealing them....you could always view the source code and try to find the image that way.....give me a samplesite to try my theory on....

a lot of pics say spaceball when you save them to keep people from stealing them. screen cap works if the pic is worth the effort.

On some images you can drag it and drop it to a new tab and then from there copy and paste or save as.

I think imdb keeps you from being able to save images by doing something like that, quick solution: PRNT SCRN and then paste it into Photoshop, Word, MS Paint, etc. and Save As jpg if it's a raster image (photograph) or GIF if it's a vector image (looks like a cartoon/has lots of text or has little or no gradation).
