why do you stay up late?

ill tell you why I did tonight.

because my friend dressed up in a schoolgirl outfit for his moms halloween party and got so drunk he couldnt get out of my car on his own, and I am mentally scarred from it.

then i played starcraft for six hours.

what are reasons you typically stay awake late?

Writing poetry or prose late at night usually because that's when my brain works best, I've alway's been a night owl. My mom said she would wake up at night when I was 3 and 4 and see my bedroom light on and she'd walk in and see me playing. She couldn't figure out how I was able to reach the light switch until one night she heard a noise in the kitchen. She got up and snuck into the hall and saw me toddling down it with a ruler from the kitchen drawer. She said I used it to flip on my light and then played around. She decided to sleep in the living room and about an hour and a half later she heard my door open and saw my light switch off and heard me go into the kitchen and put the ruler back......
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

    That is hilarious!

For some reason I write really well at night too.

Or in social situations. I wrote a couple songs (one on my band's EP) at my grandma's funeral. It was more of a get together celebrating her life, and it was outside and there was beer.

Usually because late at night when im too tired to do anything else i get stuck in internet autopilot checking gmail, IM, livejournal, facebook, SA, and torrent sites incessantly without actually registering any of the info on those pages.

It's so weird isn't it how the deafening silence of the lone night is as inspiring as being in a loud social environment. I used to do some writing at the coffee shop in the mall and I'd get into a zone almost like I do late at night. They're different zones though, in a crowded area you get an energized vibrant inspiration and at night you feel this deep introspective muse. I almost believe that our minds do send out unseen wavelengths that the crowd is bombarding you with all of that excited emotion and at night you're catching all those dreamy signals from the sleeping masses around you......
