Our founding fathers who wrote separation of church and state into our laws spoke often of this being a Christian nation. We will not have a titular head of government and church as the british monarch queen elizabeth is the head of the church of england. Prop 8 does not violate that. Nothing in our laws prohibits me from voting to define what type of society i wish to be in. comparing this issue to brown vs. board of education is an offense to that landmark case.

saying that prop 8 breaks the separation of church and state is the definition of ignorance on this issue. are we then to say that we cannot have laws against murder because it would be supporting the 10 commandments? on the surface to those who do not wish to dig to the fundamental facts this girls argument may make sense. That is what prop 8 is fighting.

you are right. its not the 17th century. and as the 13th 14th and 15th amendments show we have the right and the ability to change our definitions. so if you want to redefine something like marriage, or the separation of church and state you are going to have to do it through the vote. the way the founders intended. but seeing as these hippie, communist, fagot, heathens are incapable of doing either we will be forced to listen to them bitch about things they don't take the time to properly understand.

That is what I was going to say.

As far as the rest of the thread goes, I just don't have the desire to make points for why I think it is wrong anymore. No one is going to change their opinion at this point.

As time goes by, I hope things change for the better. In time, gays will have the same rights as straight people, just like blacks have the same rights as whites, and women have the same rights as men.

You know, many countries with a much much higher rating of general happiness and satisfaction with life compared to the US allow gay marriage. This does not mean that allowing gay marriage makes a nation happier. It means a happier nation allows others to do what they want as long as it doesn't hurt someone else. Countries like Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Norway. Denmark has always rated the highest in the world in having very happy and healthy citizens. Perhaps we could learn from them. They don't get caught up in the drama of others when the issue is dumb to begin with.

I hope the day will come that Americans could finally get out of their neighbors business.

On a related note, check out what the president of Potugal said recently regarding a gay marriage bill passing to allow same sex marriage..

President Anibal Cavaco Silva said he would not veto the bill to allow gay marriage because majority liberal lawmakers would only overturn his decision. The country must focus instead on battling a crippling economic crisis that has increased unemployment and deepened poverty, he said.

“Given that fact, I feel I should not contribute to a pointless extension of this debate, which would only serve to deepen the divisions between the Portuguese and divert the attention of politicians away from the grave problems affecting us.

That is awesome. What a concept. Lets focus on real problems, and stop worrying about butt fuckers and pussy bumpers sharing vows.

The first Mormon prophet, Joseph Smith, was arrested and convicted in New York and was found guilty of being a con-artist, an impostor -- he was a necromancer and a charlatan. This conviction was four years before he published the Book of Mormon! Court documents prove he was a convicted criminal.

My Lord knew no sin -- Jesus led a sinless life (1 Pet. 2:21-22, "For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 'Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth.'").

Joseph Smith said that the moon was inhabited by people six feet tall who dressed like Quakers and lived to be 1,000 years old (Source: Journal of Oliver B. Huntington, a devout Mormon contemporary of Joseph Smith; copy at Utah State Historical Society, Vol. 2, p. 166). Smith said the "gulf stream" was the result of the city of Enoch's being taken out from the place where the gulf of Mexico is. My Lord always spoke where of He knew -- before Abraham was, He was -- He was in the beginning with God (John 1:1).

Joseph Smith had the ability to persuade men -- but my Lord had the ability to make the mute to speak, the deaf to hear, the blind to see, the lame to walk, and the dead to live. My Lord did not die amid blazing guns with a six-shooter in his hands.

Joseph Smith was murdered -- not by a group of "anti-Mormons," but by men whose wives and daughters he had tried to ruin! When the jail was stormed, Joseph Smith used a handgun to kill two men and wound another. My Lord was never accused of improprieties with women. He was never a party to developments that failed. He never took His follower's money in some promotional scheme that was doomed from the start. He never led His followers from one location to another, for His kingdom was not of this world.

My Lord has given me a simple book, the Bible, which will guide me safely through this world, comfort me in the hour death, and sustain my soul at the judgment -- it is this book I must follow. As Jesus said, "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him -- the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day" (John 12:48).

"But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed" (Gal. 1:8).
