When I first heard of this game, I thought it was the worst idea ever. Now I'm actually considering getting it, but not for a while... 65 bucks/game gets out of hand... especially when it will be 19.99 in a couple months.
I've been a huge MK follower for years. I've played MK and supported Midway even though most people had given up on them for recycled gameplay, poorly executed "innovations," really poor and just stupidly horrible game design choices, and just never finishing a product. But I still loved their style.
I have to say I won't be picking this one up. Not because of the DC/MK thing, because Marvel Vs. Capcom sounds just as dumb but is considered among many as the best 2D fighter to date (with little modern day competition). I've been following this title and continuously seeing fatalities get dumbed down or happen "off screen" because it's too violent for DC characters has completely made me give up on this title. Granted, if you want to play with DC characters you have to do it by their rules, but a "T" rated Mortal Kombat game??? Can you even call that Mortal Kombat?
I could look past this though if it had a better character roster. And so far both the MK and DC lineup meet the bare minimal requirements at best. Maybe once a few more characters are released or announced I'll reconsider, I do like the idea of punching each other as you fall down platforms and busting people through buildings' walls, but if I just wanted more of the same with crappier, uglier characters I'd vote for McCain.
