To some it was a fad.

I'd like to think that people finally realized that flying a flag does not equate to patriotism, but who am I kidding.

Was this flag waving because of sincere pride? After 9/11, I think it was sincere.

But not long after, displaying the flag, bumper stickers, t-shirts, and hats became what I call "fake patriotism worn on one's sleeve."

Wearing patriotism, or pretending to wear it on one's sleeve, is more common in America than other nations.

How sincere are these people? How knowledgeable are they?

I don't think they are trying to fool people, they are just the sheep that follow the herd.

They had those yellow ribbons now I see them with I love my Beagle or Proud to be Filipino on them.....

A lot of them were those who were duped by our government to believe that the war against Iraq was worth fighting....How many Sadam jokes do you see anymore? Sure he is dead now, but do people really care all that much? He wasn't the one we should have been after...

I am proud to live in America and proud of our troops, but not at all of our president our government and where this country is heading, and not many people know how to help fix the shit we are in...

Im not going to lie, I dont know much about politics or economic numbers, but I know better than to believe what I read, who knows what is the truth anymore?

I dont consider myself a conspiracy theorist in that I go out looking for reasons to believe in conspiracy, but I suppose deep down I don't believe what I hear from the government, and at least look into the conspiracy's out there as they sound more believable, sad to say....That is just me though, perhaps a foolish way of thinking, but I dont know what to believe anymore, as if it matters if someone like me knows the truth anyways...I truly believe that there is not much I could do about it

Because as a country, we're spoiled. We have no idea how bad it could be, and don't appreciate what we have at all. Flying a flag doesn't prove you're a patriot, but it's a gesture that I think still means something.

The mass majority of people of this great country believed the lies OUR president told them. People believed the lie that Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9/11. So, off we go to war with a sovereign country that had nothing to do with anything. But, slowly (very, very slowly) people began to realize this was all hubris coming from this man. A realization, that this man who was portraying himself as a tough man, was really a high school cheerleader, a vietnam era man who was not a draft dodger like( Dick Chaney and just about everyone who thought it was a good idea to get us involved in this war), was actually in the reserves, but ended up going AWOL. So peoples patriotism began to disapate when they realized our young were being killed just for his and his friends greed!

Now, people realize they were being manipulated, and the last 8 years have just been horrendous! How can anyone feel patriotic about a war based on a lie. Especially when we had Scott Ritter and David Kay inspectors in Iraq telling us there were no WMD's there. Why, because people have a very short memory. After the Gulf War in 91 all those weapons were destroyed!Never mentioning the fact that WE gave those weapons to him under the supposed great Reagan and Bush 41.

Americans have a bad taste in their mouth after 8 years of corruption and lies.


Hopefully Obama will change that. If he doesn't I am going ot be doublely pissed. I knew Bush was going ot be a fuck up, so it didn't sting and bad. I am taking a chance in believing in Obama.

You can only be let down so many times, before you stop ever believing that our government could be good again.

Just think about how much money the Chinese made off of all those flags post-9/11...

well it is what it is..... obama got elected and i will support whoever runs the country, but i think he already started off on the wrong foot!!! all he did for his cabinet was do some seat changing, which he said he wouldn't do (not much "change" there) at least bush waited to get inaugerated before he started lying to us. plus pulling the troops out of iraq (now those who died, really died for nothing), but moving them over to afgan (sorry obama, thats still not home) so he lying again!!! then talking about down sizing the military(?) i thought we were short already??? but to each his own!!!


and i think it is weird how many patriots there were 9/12, but now........... it is a sad day!!! expecially when your country called on you and a few ran to canada!!!! (sorry canada) easy to be a couch soldier or weekend warrior, but heaven forbid you ever have to do anything!!!!

He's already covered his ass by saying that he wont be able to change anything in the first four years.

True, they are do nothings, but they are all different with different opinions. At the very least, none of them can agree on anything, and that in itself is damage control.
