    I broke my face

So obviously I've not been around in a while......I'm sure most of you were none the wiser but I thought I'd share my story.
Spent a little while in the summer in Peru, set up a clinic in the Andes and we saw 1140 patients in a combine total of about 20-30 hours of operation during the week. Got home and returned to work building power lines and realized that I most like had giardia or something else I picked up in south america. Shit and puked my guts out for more than a week and I believe I nearly died. Returned to nursing school and had my ass kicked with paper work and clinicals but managed to stay in the gym until about a month and a half ago. I was playing basketball behind my apt when my dog decided to chase me and rap me in her leash causing me to fall on an old gas meter. This of course destroyed the bones beneath my right eye (orbital floor). Had double vision for almost a month, had surgery last wednesday and now the double vision is back.
Needless to say I've lost so much of my gains (which I was very pleased with) I had lowered my BF% to under 17% at one point and put on several inches to my measurements........all gone to hell now, I can barely run and because of the eye situation can't exert myself.
Point being (besides telling the story) is to ask about some type of calisthenics or maybe yoga type exercises I could do at this point to try and salvage or regain some strength before getting back to the gym after healing. I can't really exert myself enough to throw around weight but I haven't had any trouble push ups and the like. Sorry for the lengthy post.....any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

shae was into yoga last time she was here and had me try some. it's a lot tougher than you think. start slow n listen to your body. healing should be top priority.

This was a few day afterward. It looked terrible when it first happened.....but it did heal pretty quickly.

    True story.

And try yogajournal.com if you want to try yoga. Its been a while since I been there but you can make a pose program according to your limitations. I'm still into yoga but I am trying to get back in the game since I haven't been in it in a while. And break down limitations is what I deffinately want to do.

    Look up the Kettlebell
I use that for my mixed martial arts training
I't not as easy as some people think.
I do the Kettlebell Swing with 35lbs 150 x each arm
when done correctly you will feel like you had a full upper body workout
    with that one exercise.
Do some research on the Kettlebell also you can find some vid’s on utube

    Its not for everyone.
If you try it let know what you think

I think him having heavy objects swinging around his head after all he's been through isn't such a good idea.......
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I was on the coast in Lima for a few days but it wasn't very warm and the beach was nasty......the smog pretty much blocked the sun all day. Rest of the time I was in some little village in the mountains like something out of national geographic.

Did you do the Machu Pichu or the ruins tour? Yeah, that's a real awe inspiring walk in antiquity!

What was the name of the beach you visited? Do you remember?
I found Cerro Azul very nice, both the surf and the 2 legged dear!

Not all Kettlebell exercises requires you to bring it up to your face.
That’s why is said do some research first also that it’s not for everyone.

I didn't go to any major touristy type ruins. A member of our group that lived there took us to some near where she lived. The beach was on the coast of Mira Flores, its a tourist/arts district in Lima. Really nice part of the city but like I said the water didn't look too inviting and the weather was pretty overcast. I did find out that they love white people in their casinos and bars and the women all had excellent asses. lol

Your reasons for being there were much more altruistic than mine, thats for damn sure...

It's like that in most places in the world...especially where the service men are, cause speaking from experience we'd love to party and spend freely in places where the poverty was so bad...but, you already know this.

It certainly was a sacrifice in some ways but I got class credit for it and I got nursing grants to pay for it all so it wasn't nearly as altruistic as it seemed......I did enjoy helping the people but I would really like to go back on my own time and do my own thing.

Not only did you get class credit you got a broader view of the world, I would recommend any aspiring college students to do some traveling before heading off to school. I was lucky to have gone to so many awesome countries before going to school and I believe my experiences and adventures helped me to be a better student.....

Totally agree it's definitely a life altering experience. I just wish I had taken advantage of more of these global studies. Hopefully I'll graduate in may and have the cash flow to travel more on my own.

Oh, I forgot to ask this question...how much would kettlebells cost? I'm interested to do some strength exercises.

If you get them local then you save on shipping
I dont think you want anything over 15 lbs to start with reps is the key.
    look in Walmart
    or here
