Bank robbery way up in US

In some cities, up 50% this year!

Bank robberies are up in cities across the USA this year and, although the reason is unclear, the down economy is a suspect.

"The economy is driving some of this," says Chris Swecker, chief security officer for Bank of America and former assistant director of the FBI's criminal division. "We're even getting some anecdotal stuff from bank robbers."

Swecker said Bank of America analysts study the interplay between the increase in bank heists and foreclosures, credit defaults and unemployment rates.

I bet if you break it down by race, you'll see that at least part of it is tied to the continued influx of Mexicans.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

The interesting thing about bank robbery, it's perhaps the easiest major crime to commit, but one of the most difficult to get away with. The average take something like a few thousand bucks. Not worth doing major federal time for, but criminals are not known for their logical thinking abilities.

Yea, but occasionally you get the diamond in the rough like that guy who basically mimicked the Thomas Crown Affair and got away with it. He put out an ad on craigslist for a bunch of people for a "job" to be dressed a certain way and show up at a certain location. A bunch of people did it, then the robber dressed up the same as the workers and robbed the bank.

I don't believe he was ever caught either.

Hey it's job security for me.

I hate to say it. But it's going to get worse before it gets better.

I assume that bank robberies go up, when there are tumultuous times, economically.

No excuse, just seems to be the case. (have not data.)

    Doin' 20?

    No thanks, I'll pass.
