That is terrible...I am interested in what the autopsy turns up.

"She blamed household cleaners and fertilizers, and said that a detoxification program based on teachings from the Church of Scientology helped improve his health."

Scientologists are messed up, they won't take advantage of modern medicine, or anything like that from my understanding, he has probably never been to a legitimate doctor, was probably given some 'Scientology vitamins' for anything that was ever wrong with him...

this kind of shit really pisses me off. It seems like people on this board will take every opportunity to bash on someones faith and religious beliefs. I have no love for scientology, but this is not the case of a parent denying their child a life saving blood transfusion. nothing in that article linked this boys death to scientology. if this kid had never seen a doctor, how did they diagnose him with this disease as a two year old?

LOL @ Travolta, if scientology teaching killed his kid.

Watch him "NOT" be smart enough to renounce
them and take control of his own life -

(Not LOL @ the death itself - )

I don't mean to fuel a flame but people been accusing John Travolta of child abuse for years in respect to the Travolta's disregard for autism and their unwillingness to address Jett's needs.

I don't really believe it is child abuse so much as it is neglect.

Sorry man, but you don't seem to know about Scientology. My sister and brother (who works in the movie industry) were into it for a while. That shit is messed up. Just read up on them, you'll change your tune very quickly.

Well it is more complicated to me, than just what the government considers to be neglect. If you are talking legal terms, then yes.

But, I believe parents neglect the needs of their children everyday, especially their emotional needs. I think a parent that lets their kid become obese while feeding them fast food everyday is guilty of neglect. I think parents that don't pay attention to how their kid is doing in school is guilty of neglect.

There are many forms of neglect that I wouldn't consider abuse. Not recognizing that your kid has a neurological condition because you don't believe in neurological conditions is stupidity, but I don't consider it abuse.

    nice

Well put, Id have to agree with you there. Im saying the fact that he could have been treated, taken care of etc but was denied those things is abuse, if it cost him his life. [which doesnt seem to be the case here, his seizures themselves werent fatal, it was him falling and hitting his head that was. even with meds he could still have the occassional seizure. (my sister does)]

but then I wonder if, like you said, a parent teaching their child poor eating habits through eating poorly in front of them, or just allowing them to learn to eat poorly is guilty of abuse?

    probably not.
neglect, yes. so forms of neglect can be abuse.

i never fully thought that one out til now.

None of you know how John treated his son, you never know if he was so over protective that it's the only reason his son had lived so long... We will never know how his life at home was nor will we understand fully why Travolta has chosen Scientology nor if he was so devout that he never snuck away with his child to see doctors without members of the church knowing about it....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Damn Smoothy, you say things that can really irritate people. Your comments never bothered me but this is one that I find offensive.

I have 4 kids and they mean the world to me, mess with them and I will kill the person who does.

Big Smoothy and maybe 3 other people on this board obviously have asperger syndrome. We would all be a lot happier if they would seek professional help, or either have their internet turned off.

'For John Travolta, protecting Jett was everything. He had to be in control. That's why he flew his own plane' says biographer
    By DOUGLAS THOMPSON
Last updated at 11:24 PM on 03rd January 2009

In the 30 years that I’ve known John Travolta, there was one subject that was always taboo and that was his son, Jett. So when I heard the news that Jett had died while on holiday in the Bahamas, I couldn’t even begin to imagine the hurt and the pain John must be feeling.

Because, despite the fact that he is one of the world’s most successful film stars, John was also a father, and a man who would do anything to protect his family.

It was an instinct which became even more important to the actor after Jett was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, an illness that would burden him with a troubling predisposition to seizures and which ultimately led to his death.

For John, the loss will be devastating.

I have no love of scientology. nowhere in that article did it connect his death with the practices of scientology. wait me posting this sounds familiar.

i dont agree with a woman having to stay quiet through the pains of child birth, but if thats what she wants to do, i don't see it hurting anyone.

i don't agree with, practice, or follow any scientology doctrines, but connecting a child's death with a religion I don't agree with because I don't follow it seems fucked up to me. outside of mental illness i have seen nothing that states that scientologist followers do not use traditional medicine in the treatment of physical ailments which this child possessed.

and for the record tom cruise is a crazy lunatic. i have no idea what the connection to that and his belief in scientology is.

That is why I said I would like to wait for the autopsy results you r-tard.

Scientology is very very strict about it's practices, I don't consider it a religion, Scientology is a disgrace. You can call it beliefs, but it is not a religion, it is a cult.
It is a shame that the government even recognizes it as a religion, Germany used to as well, but they since wised up and barred it. Scientology is criminal.

I am in no means playing down the death of another human, it is sad. I hope that their beliefs had nothing to do with the death in them neglecting to give him the care he needed....

You've got to be completely fuckin daft to by into a lot of this shit but the saddest thing is they honestly can't help it. John Travolta and any other religious maniac who would risk their life or the life of family are stupid but they can't help it, its the sick bastards that manipulate them into believing it. There has to be someone among the hierarchy that's saying to himself "Man this is sweet, these ppl are giving me so much money and they'll believe anything." all the while knowing that he's indirectly killing ppl while his followers honestly feel he is helping them..........on second though, I'm thinking of starting a cult.

This is true, L Ron Hubbard has said before he knew exactly what he was doing, and said something along the lines of "If you really want to make big money start a religion."

I think Travolta knows what is up though, he may be a bit brainwashed, but those high profile celebs are high up on the ladder, and are poster childs for the cult...Tom Cruise is pretty much the right hand man to David Mischaviage(sp?) and by SP I mean spelling? Not Supressive Person. And Tom is like a spokesman who 'sells' their beliefs

Obviously you have no idea what asperger syndrome is and need to find professional help keeping your mouth shut when you have no idea what you are talking about.

As for L. Ron Hubbard he is one of the biggest liars and losers of the century. He could write and do nothing more, stories of him inventing medals he received that don't even exist are just classic examples of his bullshittery. Someone who always wanted to be someone but couldn't feel good about himself without his typewriter.

THIS IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!

If Travolta or any other jackass wants to
believe in a system that outlaws western medicine
    SO BE IT!

They have every right to do what ever they want...

And if their Kids turn 18, and choose to follow those same beliefs,
    SO BE IT!

NO bringing the kid back now.
Everyone in the family is sad...
    Who wouldn't be?

Life goes on, folks get sick, people die (as was stated before)
    NO GOVERNMENT AGENCY
can infringe on the travolta family's US RIGHT.
to follow their religious system even if it puts themselves in danger.

You cant just eliminate freedoms -

(even if they are dumb all over)

asberger syndrome Like other ASDs, it is characterized by difficulties in social interaction and restricted, stereotyped patterns of behavior and interests. Although not mentioned in standard diagnostic criteria for AS, physical clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported.[1][2]
Asperger syndrome is named after Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger who, in 1944, described children in his practice who lacked nonverbal communication skills, demonstrated limited empathy with their peers, and were physically clumsy.[3]

of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.
